I'm curious why you're trading in one CT to another? And I would definitely try carmax and other places first.
Lifetime free supercharging and better finance than I currently have. Mathematically a wash except for all my aftermarket stuff.
I love the mods but I’ll love free SC more. And a new warranty

Just traded in my 69XX FS AWD for a 36XXX FS CB with 0.99% Apr and free supercharging. After a year of payments and with the interest saved I upgraded at a total cost of $6100(including deposit) and got a newer build.

Tesla trade in value for my original FS AWD with 32k miles was $63k.

Update:
It’s seems someone in the trade department who saw the “dirty” racing stripe on the front thought there was actual damage to the wrap on the hood. Maybe they thought the blue wrap was ripped? ?‍♂
Anyway, got a message last night saying they were going to reassess but nothing yet.
do they work weekends ? Anyone know?

I don't recall them working weekends as I asked my question during the week. If they don't and you intend to remove the wrap anyway, it might be worth restoring to stock and then resending photos. They gave me the new trade in value, but I needed to send them new photos for them to officially add it to the app.

That was my plan as well, but got vetoed by my wife. Tesla offered me 62,500 for my 3XXX FS AWD with 35,000 miles, didn’t get to the picture phase, was a prelim offer based on “perfect no damage”, but my truck has a couple scuffs in the rear bumper so they might’ve lowered the offer in person I suppose.

I was originally offered $66,100 for a FS AWD, 15k miles. when they saw the wrap (no damage or oddities), they wanted to take $1,600 off that value, so I removed the wrap before the trade in. Went from a 2xxx to a 52xxx AWD, for $73k and was able to transfer self driving... so made sense for me.

Those are planned to come off anyway. Too personal to give away. Wife doesn’t want to have another identical truck driving around. They are just vinyl decals under a small piece of ppf. Everything else is a magnet.
Don't know how to ask them to reassess. Like I said , nobody to bitch at
Why not just photoshop them out then... They are using pictures YOU sent them to evaluate for any 'damage' so if you just photoshop out what you are NOT giving them, it may change the offer...

I still wonder why though? Just for free SC?? Doesn't really seem worth it... I mean we charge up at home so it's no big deal (have solar also so it's basically 'free'), but even without, I would think taking a $25,000+ 'hit' as well as having to pay the taxes AGAIN on the new one can't make it worth all that... I actually looked at that also at one point and figured that it would cost me about $50,000 to 'upgrade' to a 'beast' that's not even a FS version... I could have just spent another $20K in the first place if I REALLY wanted it...

But just having to buy all the 'extras' and then pay $99 a year for the Premium Connectivity and such just didn't make it worth it to trade it in... (BTW, I got a quote for about $1200 more than yours - ours has no wrap/ppf)

Complicated math for me but it doesn’t just come down to that. Let’s start with that though.
I bought my foundation series off a neurosurgeon friend who ordered it for his wife and she hated it. He knew I wanted one and literally asked me to buy it off of him one night while we were both very tired and working on a super long trauma case. The way he put it, I’d be doing him a favor so he wouldn’t have to deal with selling it to “strangers”.
It was a private sale and in Arizona that meant no taxes. He asked me for $80k and I paid him $85k. At the time they were highly sought after and I just felt like I was taking advantage. So , rightly or wrongly, the car was modestly depreciated when I bought it.
Because it was a private sale though, it also meant that I had to finance it through my credit union as a used private party transaction so around 6%. Pretty crappy loan in multiple ways so there is actually a big improvement going to the Tesla 0% loan.
Then there is the solar thing. I have solar that’s grandfathered in to a sell rate which is actually higher than what is charged for off peak rate and slightly less than peak rate.
So yes, charging is technically free for me but anything I put in the truck, I also don’t sell to the power company.
Now, in Arizona, it’s also true that if you trade a car in, you’re taxed on the difference in the value between the two cars and not the value of the new car and since the two trucks have pretty similar values, it’s not that much.
We’ve had free SC since 2016 first in a signature series model x and now in a 2024 model x refresh we transferred it to. It is worth a LOT more than the $5k people attribute to it over time from real world experience. Let’s leave it at that. And…lifetime anything has the potential to produce some real savings mileage through the power of multiplication.
It also makes the car feel pretty special and gives this sense of freedom that’s hard to replicate any other way. The “I can go anywhere I want, any time I want” thing feels nice. It’s made us want to go on a lot of road trips on a whim and turned it into a very fun thing for the whole family. Sometimes we plan shopping excursions and road trips based on what’s around the superchargers which believe it or not is kind of fun. supercharging is part of my culture because of this. When I get done with an awful trauma shift, I go sit there for a little bit and think about something else for a little while and that helps me come home and NOT bring the horrible energy of tragedy home to the wife and kids.
With a Cybertruck I think that will be more pronounced. The savings I mean. Want to tow a giant trailer? Sure. Charge your buddy’s model 3? Sure.
set your trailer up in the middle of nowhere and have a powered home? sure. Leave the climate control on all night? Sure. Choose the most aerodynamically unfriendly accessories on the market? sure That kind of thing.
When it’s all said and done, it works out for me that by doing this deal, I gain free supercharging and another year or so of warranty plus mileage but I lose the cost of my wrap and starlight mod I did. The savings from the loan terms and trade in value effect on the sales taxes makes everything else kind of a wash.
So I’d rather just redo those accessories because I plan to keep this machine a very long time and I don’t want to have regrets about not having free SC.
There is defintely a fomo element too knowing that the FS trucks are already scarce and it’s pretty unlikely they will offer free SC on these again. People (especially me) are not always entirely rational.
Hope that makes sense.
It’s also going to be pretty special having two cars that run on free energy. EV charging is the new gas and prices will only go up. Hard to assess yet how much. What’s a lifetime (or at least a few years) of immunity to this effect worth? I don’t know. Do you?

I pulled the trigger for free supercharging last January and private-party sold my first CT. I also have a self-installed 10.6 kilowatt solar system on my house.

Without free Supercharging my utility would not be buying back my excess energy that I send back to the grid. Instead of having a negative electric bill it would be a positive expense per month.

Some forum members estimate supercharging as costing about .30 cents a mile. Of course electric rates vary by region. But since getting free Suleecharging 6 months ago I’ve travelled 10,000 miles including visits to 2 national parks. And this is with a Roof Top Tent and cross bars. My Cybertruck has hot and cold water, a refrigerator, an induction stove, high-performance Starlink, portable solar, and Bluetti batteries.

I’m getting about 460 watts per mile. So, yeah, I’ve arbitraged about $3,000 worth of charging so far in about 10,000 miles. And I’ve done so without giving up the payments I receive for suppling energy to my utility.

And I anticipate that electric rates will only go up. There is greater demand, and the Laffer curve informs me that greater demand equals higher prices. And I anticipate that the Middle East is always going to be problematic and that energy as a whole will only get more expensive.

But I’m also interested in freedom. If I want to go hunting or to a National Park or to see a loved one: I’m doing it.

I would not want to force or even try to convince others to do what I do. But active duty in the Marine Corps and a year overseas taught me that freedom is not free and that life is short.

Supercharging for free super charges my freedom.

Freedom forever!

Cheers, mate!
