I'm tempted to buy the part and see if there's a way to physically disable the wireless charging and leave the key card reader intact. I'd much rather just have a Magsafe adapter in the cradle anyway, but the interference with the built in charger makes it overheat. It's silly having to put my phone essentially anywhere except where it's intended to go.

I ordered one of these also. I'll report back after some testing when I receive it.
Really no difference after installing the silicon cover. My Samsung S25 Ultra Android phone still gets super hot (>110F). Might be the case I have on it.

A good step in the right direction, lots of other components will need swapped but this one was definitely on the list.

I should note that I don't use a case at all on my phone, just a magsafe card wallet that I remove when charging.

Looks like there is finally a solution being offered by Tesla to fix the phone overheating issue for the center console chargers:

I just scheduled a repair with my local SC!

Yes!
Glad Tesla is making this right.

Kinda sad, how many more internal parts are purchased from the cheapest bidder?

They aren't making it right. Mobile showed up, put a phone in the charger and said they can't replace the part unless it isn't functioning at all. It sounds like the new part doesn't really fix anything anyway, so no point in getting it replaced; but Tesla definitely doesn't seem to have a strategy for dealing with the phone issue.

Thanks for posting this. I cancelled my charger swap after reading the negative feedback here.

I ordered this cover to give it a try. $4.49: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCGPXB5B
Welp, the $4.49 charger pad helps, haha!!

iPhone 16 Pro Max still gets warm, but the phone charges now. FS AWD 113xx May 2024.

I removed the case on my S25 Ultra and now it charges better and does not get as hot (only warm to the touch). My case has a metal magnetic ring in it (magsafe?) so that might be my problem.

Guys, the obvious answer to this is an Asetek phase-change Vapochill cooler. The base unit should fit in the space in front of the center console. Then rig the cooling head (designed to cool overclocked CPUs) to the underside of the CT's magnetic phone charger.

If you are creative, make it so you can carry the asembly around with you and attach to the back of your iPhone so you can use it on a sunny day for more than 17.3 seconds before it typically overheats and the screen gets so dim as to be effectively useless as a phone at all.

Honestly, carrying this thing around in a pack wouldn't even be as bad as the old bag cell phones from the '80's, however, you would also have to carry around a 110-volt A.C. current source, such as a Bluetti powerbank or something...

All around, a very practical solution to power and cool your 15-oz phone with only 45-lbs of extra gear, I'd say...

I just picked up my truck after having this and the cantrail recall done. My Samsung S24 Ultra definitely is not as hot charging. I don't know how fast it is but I charged 48-52 on a 30 minute drive home and it didn't get hot, just warm. I briefly ran Ampere and saw good charging rates but hard to say how much it was on the full drive. I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a service bulletin, especially for original trucks like mine (VIN 00755).
