Made a 60"×40" bed that can sleep two pretty comfortably. Im 5'9" girlfriend is 5'3". It is also able to adjust so the driver and passenger seats can go be set to normal. That way you can drive and then set up the bed fully when you arrived at your destination.

I used 1" extruded aluminum for the frame. tnutz.com

If it works, it works. I'm 6'4 though and that definitely wouldn't work for me. I would probably rather put that much money towards more of a shell for the bed so I could just sleep back there. Or if weather was that bad I'd just recline the drivers seat in camp mode lol.

I wish the backseat folded into the bed... or the back window went down to pump AC or heat back there...
Tesla claimed the rear window was a structural matter, however it is evident that’s not the case. There’s a company called BreezerWindows that has designed a retrofit solution. I can’t personally vouch on how good it is, but I wish there was an option from the factory for this solution.

Tesla did not claim this. A "mid-gate" would be, but not an opening window. They stated the opposite, that they had an opening window in prototypes, but as they tried to shrink the car, the back seat was getting smaller and smaller. They ditched the opening rear window (and a few other ideas) to save some millimeters in the second row.

but the breezerwindow is a thick metal grate that you can't open, you can only remove the plexiglass portion

Yes. The choice would have been deleting the roll up tonneau (the roll space is significant) or making the rear seat cramped.

not long enough. Still need to bend those twigs. Maybe diagonally can fit 1. I just place a small foam pad on the floor with seats folded up.

I am 5’9 also and definitely can’t fit sideways in the back. Is it comfortable for you?

That’s because they don’t want to be sued when someone gets: themselves, their child, their pet, or their Faberge egg caught in the window and crushed by the cover being closed.

Their original prototype was completely open. Kind of sucks but their lawyer(s) basically prevented them from creating the automotive version of the “Cornballer.”

It would be great to sleep in the cab. Setting up something on a diagonal for one person could work somewhat okay. I mocked it up. A company makes inflatable cubes that could be used for this purpose. I forget the name. They are used in SUVs for filling the footwells. As it sits, there are great heating and cooling options available for the bed. They are a much less expensive and involved than a factory alternative for a climate controlled bed with the existing vault.

The vault climate control though the window is simply a fantasy. The climate system at times struggles with the cab. An AWD version of the RWD would be the best unit to build an overlanding live on board setup. The divider could be removed entirely and a proper insulated and sealed pop-up camper could be fabricated. Think Chinook. Someone will do it eventually.

Also I wanted to extend the seat track. So the seats go all the way forward, has anyone seen an easy way to do this?
