I added a silicone cover to the charging area, and it has cut down on the phone heating. But it charges very slowly.
I literally bought one for that purpose and unfortunately 20+ minutes in it heats up too much and stops charging. And even when it does, it’s super slow.
Definitely an issue that needs to be addressed as a whole.

Well I went against my word. I ended up getting a new iPhone Pro. I think the CT charger helped cook the battery. I was down to 14% at 4pm. My new phone just transferred all my data and I’ve been using it heavy for 4 hours. It’s lost 25%. Is there a way to just disable the charger or a thick mat? I’m just going to plug in my phone when MagSafe isn’t available.

I just put my phone face-down on the CT wireless charging pad, so it wouldn’t charge and heat up.

iPhone Air definitely seems to not heat up as much as my iPhone 15 Pro Max did. BTW, pro tip: similar to the saying "don't test drive a Tesla unless you want driving every other car ruined", don't hold and use an iPhone Air unless you want every other iPhone to seem big and heavy. First time I've been excited about a new phone in a LONG time.

In regards to phone mounts, I can attest to this one (no affiliate links nor sponsors):

I only use it on long road trips, but the great thing about it is, it's super easy to put on and off. Doesn't leave a mark or scratch on anything either. You can run a USB cable to it if you need to just behind the screen from the center console for temporary power (again, just using during road trips). Eliminates all nags when you need to do something on your phone (albeit you should only do it briefly).

I’ve been on Team Max since the XS Max. I’m loving the Air. First time I’ve gone caseless since the OG iPhone in 2007, too.

So, I don’t know that I can function without a case. Caseless phones feel very slippery to me and I like having a loop and kickstand and so forth. I also have children and drop my phone not that infrequently. Is it that much better even if you add a case? I currently use the 16 pro max.

Understood. I’ve always had cases with built-in stands, etc. and I might decide to go back to a case on the Air after a while.

For now, I don’t miss the case. Just digging the form factor and lightness of it. Reminds me of my favorite pre FaceID iPhones, the 6/6s+ & 7. Big screen and thin and light.

Sorry to hijack this thread! I was always the same way until Thanksgiving last year (always Max, always with a case). A family member convinced me to try without one, and now, I'll never go back! BTW, I dropped it a ton with no ill effects. With the Air, they do sell a "bumper" that goes around the outside of the phone. It's OK, but the real impact is when you go "naked" without a case. It's so light and small! Game changing!!!

I had a hard time deciding and almost got the air. I had battery life on my mind because mine was so bad. But I agree it’s awesome. I need the .5 camera also but next time I upgrade it will most likely be an air. Also a great size. Max is too big for me.

I just dropped my AWD for cantrail and asked about charger: $230? I said it’s under warranty so why I have to pay? SA said he will check on it and let me know. I told him just leave it if not free of charge.
