If you’re lucky enough to still have 14.1.7, KEEP IT! I regret my decision every time I look at my truck now.
I’m late to this thread, but I have 14.2. It’s been working great. End to end with parking over 5 trips almost flawlessly. Last 2 versions, not so much.

there seems to be a trend with new updates working well for some and worse for others. My guess is something deeper is happening to cause users to have very different experiences. No idea what that would be though.

I just did our first ride and this is the glaring issue for me. All city, no highway. It's making super wide turns (in intersections, into driveway, etc.). To the point of not staying in its own lane when going through the turn. It' getting also very close to parked cars as it makes the turn. I would have imagined this would be widely reported. But your post is about the only one I have seen reporting what I am experiencing as well.
That's because it is getting data from people who don't know how to drive and ignore the laws. A car does not need to swing to the left to make a right turn. if they can't make a right turn from the right turn lane into the right lane after the turn they should not be driving. You're not driving a tractor trailer, you driving a f****** car.

14.2 speed profile sucks. There is no AI in it. Standard is 5 mph over. Hurry is 10 mph over. No matter the traffic BEHIND your car, it sticks to these limits. So i am constantly adjusting the profiles.

14.1.7 speed profile flows with traffic for most part.

Example: highway has speed limit 60 (due to construction).

Hurry mode is at 70 mph. Car in front of me on right lane is at 68 mph. So my CT moves over to the LEFT lane to pass. Except it is staying at 70 mph! Passing takes forever. The traffic behind me builds up in the left lane because my car is staying at 70…won’t accelerate. Refuses to.

And once past the slower car in right lane, because the difference is not that much, Hurry refuses to change back to the RIGHT lane. Keeps 70 in the passing left lane. More traffic builds up behind me. Sweats building on my forehead.

So, now i am force to use Mad Max mode to accelerate enough well past that car. Then switch to Hurry again to make it switch back to the RIGHT lane, which works about 50% of the time…but because in Hurry mode, it now slows down like crazy back to 70 mph WHILE IN THE LEFT LANE! And then it signals to right lane.

Note…this is particularly irritating to me because it drive about 95 miles of highway everyday!

Just lots of work by me. Yes, i can manually use turn signals to force it back…but sometimes it ignores me. And dear goodness if i have switch to Standard mode, it will brake my CT down to 65 mph!

14.1.7 was great. But oh no, some Tesla owners wanted “speed limit”. So Tesla team gave it to them by this ridiculous limit. Taking away any AI thinking along the way!

Note: this is particularly irritating to me because i drive about 95 miles everyday on the highway!

I agree. 14.1.7 speed profiles were perfect for me as compared to 14.2.

Also 14.2 seems to be navigationally challenged at times.

A NO for 14.2 from me.

As most have said: Speed Profiles are terrible. Hurry drives max 75 mph and Mad Max goes 85 mph merging like a maniac swerving through lanes. I expect Hurry to be fast with minimal lane changes.

Lane changes are slower and leaves the blinker on forever. People lose their patients and give take the gap back.

Hold 14.1

IMO, the ideal speed setup would be gross adjustment by profile selection: side to side (east/west) on the right scroll wheel. Then an over/under indicator would tell you where you are relative to the speed limit: i.e. +5, +10, -5 etc. Which would be tunable by up/down (north/south) on the right scroll wheel.

It was nice to be able to adjust follow distance on the adaptive cruise control - but it needed to be a tad more accessible. You can kind of get that with profile selection; I'd prefer the option to be a tad more hand's on with that variable.

For me, it is FSD. Ai-driven. Let it do its thing…not neuter it! I could care less about all those granular speed control that some of you all demand. it is SELF DRIVING. We need to let Tesla AI team do its magic instead of demanding rules and more rules! Because when we do that, we get 14.2 and it fukking sucks! Sorry it just does.

All these demands for granular control has utterly neutered FSD on the highway to the point of Ford Blue Cruise! If i wanted Blue Cruise, then i would have stuck with my F150 PowerBoost!

Totally agree. It was finally near perfect on 14.1.7 then they destroyed it. So much progress lost. I’ve never been actually disgusted with Tesla before. I am this time. Last time I blindly accept an update.

Elon needs to DOGE his FSD team.

Back to TACC, but I cannot switch back while driving lol.

14.2 neuters 14.1. Do not know if this was their solution for the speed complaint(s). Not a good choice.

Also FSD, if I choose the lane, it’s for a reason. Keep the lane.

Exactly. FSD doesn't seem to be able to choose the correct lane.

Sure would be nice to have some control options when we get a squirrelly release. Sure, we can always drive manually, but ...

14.2 here. Drove on a 180 mile trip today. It didn't make me touch the "wheel" a single time. When I looked away from the road for a bit, it gave me the blue light warning, a couple of times I continued to look away and I got the beep warning and it immediately went away when I look back at the road. In the past, I was getting reminders every few minutes.

It made a swift, but controlled, last minute swerve around some roadkill which was nice!

I used Standard and it honored the plus 5 mph that I had set.

So far, so good for me!

100 percent. Tesla finally got stopping at stopsigns comfortable, but it guns it right after stopping. Uncomfortable for my passengers. If you’re coming to a full stop with a vehicle this powerful, the acceleration has to be more gradual. That’s my only complaint right now. That and some parking rules. Home? Back in. Lots? A toggle for “optimize for closeness” or “try not to park next to anyone if possible, or only on one side if that’s not possible”
or "Don't park to the driver's side of another vehicle if not possible to park with empty spots on both sides.
