The SAWD can have core wheels but that's not the standard. On the SAWD, $59k and $69k versions, the "Core" wheels are optional (+$2500). The no cost, standard wheels are 18" steel and appeared to be named "Molten" wheels.
We’ll see if any have the molten wheels on Wednesday.

I’m still a little displeased that the AI is still showing 2027, but I think everything will end up alright.

I know, I would just think they would start making these trucks with the Molten wheels first.

I’m scheduled to get new tires for my Model S next Friday, I’m likely trading it in so my luck 🍀 is it will come in June and I’ll waste $1300 on tires. Regardless this is exciting I’m not in a huge rush my Model S trade in went up $5K since they don’t have any more. Hopefully it stays that way.
I was going to trade my MYLR - but when i ordered and saw Sept/Oct, I knew I would need tires before then. I ended up selling it to Plug for way more than I was getting on trade. It was a relatively easy transaction.

Its a personal choice but I prefer the molten over the core and mantle wheels.

They've grown on me, but I do not care for the Goodyear HT's that come with them. I have already secured some aftermarket wheels and probably will get some Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent's. I'm sure you can resell them if you prefer to change and still come out better than paying the upgraded $2500 for the Core's.

I prefer the 18’s as well — hopefully the taller sidewalls help soften the ride a bit and make up for the lack of air suspension.

Joe T.'s picture showed at least 2 with the Molten wheels so it's not like they are not making them. Other than that, hard to tell if it's a SAWD or PAWD, unless the lights are on.

Curious, what did wheels you decided on? I think I'm going to gamble and order a set of 18x9 forged directly from China (Alibaba). I'm not dropping $3-4k on a set of wheels. As for the Goodyears, I'm not a fan of the look but I'll run them until they're done then most likely switch to a Hankook Dynapro HT2 in a 295/70-18.

Check out atomic wheels. They usually always have some sales and tossed in ceramic coating. I went with the AW09s in 18” and forged. Shipped out from US and nicely packaged.

On Joe’s latest video (5/11), there are some obvious SAWD models around timestamp 26:53. They have the tonneau cover and 18 inch wheels:

While it’s hard to say for sure it does appear that those are the same trucks that were spotted on Last Fridays flyover.. they are parked in basically the same area… let’s hope we see a big push of production. I’m getting excited for some answers on the details on this trim.

Where did the $59K come from ? On Tesla website there is $69K with deliveries in 2027, is that different ?

Right when they dropped the Standard AWD Trim on Feb. 19 the pricing started at $59,990 for 10 days. A lot of people (including myself) placed our order then. It's a helluva deal. After the 10 days the price was raised $10K.
