3rd party alignment

Been a few months - anyone use a third party for alignments like Firestone/tire kingdom/Tires Plus? I don’t like going to my local service center and prefer lifetime alignment plans.

Side note, I heard a service say to another customer. Teslas alignment tools are calibrated to OEM wheels and tires. They will not do non stock setups.

Had the inner treads of my stock AWD Core wheels wearing faster than the outside, called around and Discount Tire said they do CTs all the time.
Might give them a try, cost was $200 in FL

In high school/early college I aligned cars at a small alignment shop. The OEM specs are almost always too lenient. Especially for Toe (which is most responsible for abnormal tire wear). I paid 270 IIRC at Tesla for an alignment. Next time I’ll likely just align it at home as I wasn’t thrilled with the level of anal retentiveness. (Or lack of).

Nope, it’s tedious to do the old fashioned way but it can be done with tape measures, a straight edge, and an angle finder.

Interesting. My local Florida Discount Tire said they wouldn’t do an alignment when I called 2 months ago. I will check again.

Same here. My local DT that installed my tires said they can’t do an alignment on the Cybertruck also.

That one is a little more complicated. Involves string and jackstands.


If you do the string and jackstands method you can get the toe angle sorted at the same time as the TA If that’s something that interests you.
