So Far I'm loving my truck, I'm getting the OEM light bar next week and have done the all Mats and a bunch of OEM accessories that are very basic. I do have one concern, after reading lots of posts online and countless YouTube videos it seems to me that all CT's have some windshield distortion, I see it on mine but not sure I want it replaced in case it gets worse, because right now I see it but its not earth shattering. Is everyone else landing in the same place as I am on the windshield?

It's a labor intensive process to replace the windshield. Unless it disturbs your vision I would not have it replaced.

Accessing the Area: The front doors and frunk are opened, and power to the vehicle is disabled or placed in Service Mode.

Trimming & Harnesses: Technicians carefully remove the front header trim, A-pillar covers, windshield wiper arms, and the front overhead console.

Electronics Disconnect: The forward-facing camera assembly, rearview mirror, and electrical harnesses for the windshield heaters and GNSS antenna are unplugged.

Glass Removal: The old urethane is cut and the windshield is lifted from the frame using specialized suction cups.

I debated whether or not to address the issue because it is so labor intensive and wouldn’t want future creaks and leaks with tinkering with the original windshield, but my windshield is very noticeable and I cannot unsee the distortion whenever I look to the right.

I do see it on my windshield on the passenger side if the light hits it right at certain angles. Not enough to bother me. I read if you tint the windshield it gets a bit more enhanced. I am about to find out for myself. Tint scheduled for Tuesday.

All car and truck windshields have some distortion depending upon where you are looking. I don't find the Cybertruck's noticeable.

That’s great and all but this doesn’t help any of the cybertruck owners who do have the issue.

Photo of distortion comparing front windshield and the side triangle on Highway. You can clearly see the distorted waves along the guard rail compared on the front windshield. The cement wall straight lines are all distorted and wavy too:

No, all cars really don't have this problem. Cheaper cars tend to have this problem. As do Teslas.

But go hop in any new Mercedes or BMW etc and the glass is crystal clear.

Dropped the car off this morning. Service advisor and head technician said it’s the first time they have seen this issue on a Cybertruck. They’re providing me a loaner as they couldn’t say for sure if and when they could diagnose and fix the issue.

I had not major but very noticeable distortions on my foundation truck - right in the center of the active vision area, you know, right in front of you, but lower, on the road part - so I did not bother reporting it which would've caused windshield replacement and I would bet money that this repair will introduce something else.

My current truck also has some waviness but at the very bottom, very minor - you have to look for it to notice, so, keeping as is.

My vote is to leave it alone - I , mostly, fond of Tesla service but windshield replacement is a big task and I feel that chances for new creeks, camera misalignment, fitment, overhead gear selector or other issues would be elevated.

Well this was a much faster fix than I imagined. In and out the same day! Fingers crossed they did a good job without causing other issues in the future 😂

Funny, they told me the EXACT same thing today when I had them look at it when adding the light bar in the service center, they said if I want it replaced they will, I elected to get it done when they get the glass in. I'm also thinking of resale value, I have a feeling what I thought was not a big deal will be a big deal if I ever sell or trade in.
