I have noticed my motor makes aif whining noise when I am just lightly pressing the accelerator pedal. The sound doesn’t happen when my foot is off the pedal or moderate to heavy acceleration.

Unfortunately, whenever I am trying to maintain speed on a flat road, I have to deal with the whine for long periods because of just slightly pressing the pedal.

If others don’t have this, I may report to service.

My M3P does this around 8-15 mph and when I whole shot it 0-60+. same noises when regen breaking. Overall Mostly goes away at cruse speeds. I’d say this is likely normal of an electric motor.

Well, that kinda sucks. I guess I’ll play music a lot, but my Model X motors were almost silent. It just whines at the most annoying time, when I’m cruising. If I was accelerating, that would be fine.

I think most of the noise has been from the off-road tires. Also remember under 20 of the pedestrian warning speaker making sound.

Thanks. I know the sound of those and they are different. This is a weird higher pitched whine that only happens at certain times and is different than the standard whine of the motors.

There's a certain whine the capacitors and coils make in an electric vehicle at certain speeds that's unavoidable because they're oscillating in the frequency that Humans can hear.

I assume the additional sound-dampening in the S/X may have insulated it from you. :/

If you can capture the sound, or sit in someone else's truck, you can try to see if it's different - because if it is, it means a circuit is being slightly inefficient and may be generating heat. But mostly... It's harmless and annoying.

Thanks. That’s helpful. It’s not the end of the world, I’m blessed to have a truck. Just curious if it could/should be fixed.

Probably not. You know how power lines whine? It's the same reason.

It can be a sign something needs looking at, but it's exceedingly difficult to know without samples of the tones of dozens or hundreds or even thousands of units.

I can also hear the Cybertruck more than our 2020 X. I feel like it is less after things are warmed up or I just get use to it.

Yes, I’m also hearing a high pitched motor whine at lower speeds. I’m not sure if it happens when I tap the accelerator or not but i’ll watch for that. It can be a bit distracting even when music is playing. My wife’s model Y does not make any sounds like this so the sound is surprising to us both.

Coming from a Y and 3, the front motor on my Cybertruck AWD sounds different, but that's understandable. I get the "whine" from 15mph to around 35mph, but it's not noticeable at highway speed. Honestly, it kind of reminds me of an ICE truck transmission sound, at least the pitch modulation, in the lower gear range.

Normal Operating Sounds (tesla.com)

Tesla actually recorded a bunch of "NORMAL OPERATION" sounds for people so you can hear what is normal and what isn't. I did check and its the same sounds in all the DIY guides (Model 3 / Model Y / Cybertruck). Not sure if its different on the S/X or if there are certain features they didn't record.
