Nothing but extremely positive reactions so far, including a “chefs kiss” from a guy on a motorcycle.

Guys an older pick ups (10 years old or more) tend to thumbs up or ask about it.

Could be my imagination, but I’ve specifically noticed anyone in higher-end newer pick ups (lifted, top level, etc) drive past me as if they don’t even see the truck. Anything that was likely $60k or more. Just complete stare ahead.
This is my experience too. The old guys tend to love it. It's the millennial diesel Boyz that seem to really struggle.

Also some seem to equate the Cybertruck with Elon Musk himself
Elon does daily drive a CB, so I guess this isn't completely wrong. A lot of people, journalists included, falsely assume it was designed by Elon. It's true he set the requirements, but the design itself and implementation of elon's requirements were done mostly by Hanz and his team. The running joke that elon designed it from a children's drawing is funny, but not true ?

but
Franz tells the story that they revealed it to Elon and he had no idea about the design. But then Elon eludes to the design com ing from him and his kid. I believe Franz.

Yes, that's the joke origin ? but it was taken too far imo when it turned into fact. Even Jason Camissa mentioned it as fact, sadly. It doesn't really matter, but CT haters love to latch on to that.

I’ve received more than a few birds now as well, there’s certainly something off with people who choose to flip the bird at someone based on the vehicle they drive if you ask me. I just ignore it. There’s plenty of vehicles i don’t care for and certainly would never consider owning, but I’ve never felt the need to communicate my own personal opinion to those owners.
It’s eye opening to see how many “friends” judge you based on driving a Tesla, and especially showing any remote interest in a CT. If they’re judging you that hard on your choice of vehicle, you know they’re judging you on everything else in life too.

Probably because they still have huge truck payments, and they don't want to acknowledge they are paying all that money on last century technology. It's best if they pretend like Cybertruck doesn't exist yet. They will get one after they have paid off their oil burner.

I got into a conversation with a diesel boy that really hated the truck. Once I told him that I leave home with a full "tank" every morning and that it's essentially "free," he didn't have many criticisms about the price tag anymore. Subjectivity like looks side, once you realize that ANY comparable ICE truck will cost you (optimistically) $60k in gas alone to drive it 200k miles... CT doesn't seem to so expensive....

Early S, X, 3, and Y drivers reported getting flipped off and stuff tossed at them on the old reddit, teslaownersclub threads. It eventually died out as these things do. I just put it up to individuals with poor impulse control. I would do nothing to engage or react to the flippers, you don't really know what's going on under the surface................................

Both can be true, although Elon's kid didn't draw a triangular truck, as far as I know. He did ask Elon why things don't look like like we thought they would look, why the future doesn't look like the future.

I believe Elon came up with the triangular shape, based upon his desire to use the same type of cold-rolled stainless they used on the Starship, keeping in mind the limitations of bending the HFS panels. Elon conceived of a super-tough truck formed out of unstampable steel, It was Franz who designed the actual vehicle, the proportions, how everything fit, and who made it look great.

Franz is a real talent and will go down as one of the most prolific auto designers to ever live. He already has the world's best-selling car under his belt, the Model Y. Although it's hard to brag about a car designed for minimum aero drag and maximum volume. Even there, he pulled it together with the minimalistic styling details to make it look as good as a beached whale can look. You will have to forgive me, I never liked puffed out cars. Even the Cybertruck's rear end is overly "fat" or bulky for reasons of cargo volume. It would have looked better if it were sleeker. But that's not Franz's fault, a designer has to follow the design requirements. And it wouldn't have suited me as well if the bed volume was smaller.

Thanks to Elon's kid, Elon and Franz (and the rest of the engineering and design and assembly teams, parts sourcing, tooling, etc,) for bringing us the Cybertruck! It was a huge joint effort.

Just leave out the part about the phantom drain! I have two peeves with the truck in total. One is that it definitely uses energy while just sitting in my driveway doing absolutely nothing. I get much better cost per mile than my old truck while driving, but my old truck didn’t leak gas essentially while it was sitting there.

My other is the phone chargers that boil my iPhone and don’t charge it.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with with chargers. They are pretty crummy. I've heard that the newer galaxy phones are perfect on them(?), needs confirmation though. But you shouldn't need to buy a phone that's compatible with a wireless charger, no thanks! I suspect they'll get replaced, or adjusted somehow, but they do need something changed there for sure!

As for the phantom drain, are you a long-time Tesla owner? I wouldn't get too concerned over that. Every new vehicle from Tesla will inevitably have funky issues. My model 3 sure did and we got it when it was still a "new" production. 5 years later and we're still VERY happy with it because they've resolved everything and then some. From OTA updates, and warranty repairs early on, our model 3 is so much more than it was we got it in 2019. 160k miles later, it runs perfect, still has 300 miles of range, and is mechanically as good as it was when new.

Yeah, the phantom drain is definitely a problem, no doubt! But it's a solvable one. In a year, I'll probably have forgotten that it was even a thing. If I've learned anything from owning Tesla vehicles it's that they improve over time and Tesla gets the job done faster than any other OEM I've ever worked with. Anyone remember when the model 3s had water intrusion issues in the tail lights? People were FURIOUS about it and it was wide-spread issue in the early models. Well, they replaced it for us in a public parking lot while we were on vacation in Zion national park, I didn't have to do anything... under warranty of course. After that I've been a lot less concerned about little hiccups like this, especially software ones.

Same in the Model 3. Something about the phone not laying flat on the charger. Try rotating the phone 180°. I haven’t tried it, but wonder if the MagSafe case would help.

Had running into at least twice in the same situation, one guy driving a rundown Mazda on the highway, the other poor guy was crossing on a bicycle while I stopped in front of the red light. Don't understand them, just thought what the hack, you mean people.

Perhaps some haters feel that EVs are being forced down everyone's throats and gas cars are being taken away. That would upset me too.

FWIW, I was one of the first people to get a Hummer EV back in March of 22 and I got a lot of "negative Nellies" with that also (about 60% positive, 40% negative). I've noticed that most haters are "tough guys". A tough guy (in my opinion) is a middle aged, overweight bully that drives a modified truck to be more annoying than they are already. I mean, there are literally guys out there that will spend money to modify their big diesels to puff black smoke out at the people behind them by using tons of fuel and soiling their exhaust. Kinda like sharting in your pants when standing in line because you don't like the clothes the guy behind you is wearing.

Or, maybe they're just of lesser intelligence. Just consider how smart the average person is and then consider that half of the people out there are stupider than that.

There has to be some kind of correlation between rolling coal on random people and intelligence. These are the same type of people that run bicycles off the road with their overcompensating trucks…
