Sucks but I don’t think the Tesla prioritizes fairness. You can see that and what they’ve done as a company. I think reasonable minds can disagree on where the line goes from here.So the people who were big fans of Tesla and put down a deposit on reveal night, nearly five years ago, should only have the option of paying over $100k for their truck or go to the back of the line. Meanwhile, people who decided to get a CT two plus years after the reveal should arbitrarily get to have the first opportunity to buy a more affordable option. An option which is closer to what was offered on reveal night, and which also may qualify for a $7500 federal tax rebate. Does that seem at all reasonable or fair?
One could argue that the most recent reservation holders will be the most sticky since they have greater price transparency and are most able to buy. Who knows how many of the early reservation holders would top out at the original marketed price (very likely a great deal). Additionally, as unfair as you think it might be, initial reservation holders already had their chance for a cooler more “exclusive” vehicle.
