My advice…don’t hit a tree stump. It is pricy. While parking in the forest on Memorial Day, I can in at 10pm and hit a blackened stump. It knocked off my camera and creased the bumper…over 2k in damages.

The labor cost / parts cost ratio is still very low. means your money mostly spent on needed parts.
Also, still so much cheaper than the Rivian bumper repair story, right?

Given how much auto repair rates have soared in the last few years, I would say the OP got off easy for only $2,800. I've seen examples of simple parking lot speed type accidents go over $10K before you can say "ooops".

Yeah, my friend's Rivian was murdered by a hailstorm here in Texas with damage to the windshield, glass roof and the hood looks like the surface of a golf ball; the cost to repair was over $40k. Yes a small fender bender will set you back $20-30k. On larger collision with repairs in excess of $60k, many insurance company simply total the vehicle. I'm not a Rivian hater, I have owned 3 total, currently have 2 in my garage:cautious:
Addendum: Owning a Cybertruck or a Rivian is no different from owning a specialty supercar, and we all know how $$$ it is to repair a raging Bull or a prancing horse

$2983 is not bad at all. I had three door dings repaired via dentless on my other car for $1,350.

Sorry about your accident but appreciate the photo.

My Cybertruck was delivered with this bumper damage that I did not catch at delivery but have photos from delivery showing damage.
I know there is an electronics box under the plastic bumper cover and your image shows a similar line in the cover. I am hoping when I go in for service they will replace more than just the bumper cover!

I'm lost. Why isn't this an insurance claim?? 1k deductible is still better than all out.

That is a really unlucky hit.... You managed to break a maximum number of parts in a very small area ?

I had 2 similar insurance claims in the last few years on my Tesla Model X: an uninsured motorist bumped into me in Nashville and scratched my tree at home while backing up. I used insurance for both. Now I'm paying over $800/month for 3 cars (Jag XK, Model X and CT) and that's the cheapest I could get. I would have rather paid the costs myself, as the repairs were in the ~$2-3k range. Now I have to pay this ridiculous amount for at least one more year.

at that price, you might as well max out your deductible and get the minimums to cover a catastrophic event only....

sometimes Tesla estimates come in on the high side and once they get in there, they may find there’s not as much damage and you’ll be pleasantly surprised that it’ll be lower.
