The average cost of an F Series truck purchased is $35,372.

People point out the higher trims as a comparison, but those aren't the ones selling at massive volume.

It's true there is a limit of people who will buy vehicles over $60k.
That's an interesting number.

Because from Ford's site, they seem to start selling for more than that.

And while I didn't read back in this thread, I think that I was mentioning the number of F-150s that are in the high price range. I'm pretty sure that I didn't say all of them.
And there's a LOT of those higher price range models driving around me.

Keep in mind that most F series sold are fleet vehicles, but that was from a separate site. I can't find anything firm outside of the XLT is the most popular consumer F150 sold, followed by the XL.

So where do all these fleet vehicles hide?

And if we use your numbers, then less than half (i.e. not "most") of the 750,789 F-Series sold last year (This is ALL F series, not just the F-150) or 375,394 trucks would be less than the 385,900 Tesla Model Ys sold! Since they are less likely at this point to be bought by fleets.

So more "people" buy the Model Y?

I think that we need to get this "fact" in front of Social Media!!!!!

In 2 years please let me know what percentage of the full size truck market the cyber truck has.
What percentage? They'll be lucky to have made at most 200,000 trucks by then, even with full ramp.

You might as well call the Lightning 'niche'. They've only recently approached shipping 50k of them, ever.

But those are logistical limitations, not demand limits.

That's the price of a used truck, a new one costs nearly 60k on average.

I admittedly got it off of twitter when people were saying new trucks vs F series.

Yeah, also the average price went up recently. By alot! The average price of all new vehicles was $35k five years ago.

The introduction of so many more expensive models is the major source of that increase. Gotta remember, an EV is literally more metal. You're paying for that "energy" up front in the form of the battery. That and technology boosts in older lines - not to mention perceived inflation as well as real - has really shot up the perceived value in these prices.

It's up to $47k now, but going down. Because it was waaay above inflation, hence raising interest rates to slow demand of expensive things.

As long as Ford treats the Lightning as a niche vehicle it will continue to be one

I have found the far majority my F150s in the area suburbs are XLT and lariats which are higher than 39k

Elon talked on the subject of 'Cost Grind' to reduce manufacturing cost by 20% and compared this to a 'Game of Thones' that would be a 'Game of Pennies'
Let's say it takes 18 months or more for the markets outside of North America where the design rules vary and as such changes would happen..... as a Day 1 reservation holder, l would be happy to wait.
They plan for a non FS version end of third quarter or sometime in the last months of the year. Hold on to your Cowboy Hat ?
So basically, the first model year will be the Foundation Series model. Right?

/r/electricvehicles (and the Reddit, in general) is so funny because they think and pray that CT is still going to flop. They posted an article able how CT was already outselling competitors and turned it negative. It's either so polarizing that nobody will buy it after FS or the roads will be full of them and nobody will want it anymore because it's not special.

Haha yeah it's crazy how many tech bros who typically drive sedans will switch to CT. If Tesla came out with a CyberVan first, I think many of us would have gotten that but now we're all truck people instead.
Idk about sedans, but I think there's a decent amount of the population like me that wants a Tesla that can go off-road. A Tesla 4runner is my dream car, the model Y just doesn't cut it for my comfort levels- so: cybertruck.

I definitely don't need a truck and the bed will be a waste of space 95% of the time, but all the other pro's of the CT make it worth it.
