I don't get why some of you are bothered by this... I precisely created this post to help me find solutions to increase my dogs comfort.

@Mattkalin thanks for sharing the Gunner Kennel brand; those look awesome. A beefy fan and Bluetooth thermostat seem like worthy additions.
I know people haul dogs in the backs of pickups in dog grates with toppers all the time.
as long as you have some kind of climate control, do it.

I’ve had four adults with two service dogs 80 pounds the other about 40 and we all fit fine in the cyber truck in the cab. The dog can lay on the floor in the front with no problem.

Sure... If my kid is a dog
Heh. I’m just messing around. Dogs love riding in the back of trucks, well most dogs. I don’t think we would do it with a dog (likely to happen at some point) but we don’t have kids to take up the space either.

We have 3 kids so the back row in the Cybertruck is jammed packed.... We'd like to go on a ~500mile trip with out kids and miniature schnauzer (in the south). Ideally with our gear and dog in the vault protected from the rain with a closed cover.

Obviously we're worried about heat.

Has anyone rigged up a solution here?

I was thinking maybe a wireless camera with wireless temp reading... Maybe running with the dog crate right next to the tail gate and the cover open ~5-6 inches in non-raining conditions and then closed all the way when it rains?

idk... would be really nice to have the option to throw HVAC back in the vault.
Folks put bird dogs and coon dogs in boxes in truck beds since time began. Mos Def don't close that cover but dogs ride in truck beds a lot.

Do the outlets in the back work while driving(still waiting for VIN). I’m also wanting to do the same thing with our dog, was really hoping the back window would roll down in the CT.
Maybe something like this would work, not sure what it would do to range. https://a.co/d/03VSSm53

Kids like riding in the bed as well. I did for years. But many states have laws against that now.

Vault closed. I don't know, can one speak dog? I would ask, Do you like it in here?, but I think the answer would be hard to decipher.

Seems kind are dark while I was in there while the wife drove yesterday. Closed course. I came with the thought if someone put me in there. I would bite them when I got out. My wife wanted to leash me. It was strange.

I let my dog ride in the back vault open. She rides on a combination of duffle bags and containers. When I have to open the gate she goes on the roof. Yet I won't take her on anything more than about 35 mph all dirt roads. She is smart. Chases bears for a living. Yeah I know people do it all the time, on freeways and crap, but not me.

Also 500 miles is a jaunt. A trip is much more. Either way I think one could handle it inside cab. A dog is a family member to me. Not like a family member, but an actual family member.

Yes they do. The outlets work while driving and DC fast charging. They only do not work when AC charging.

I’ve done around 10 plus 350mi trip with the dogs in the vault. They actually prefer it rather than the back seat. With the back seats up, only one of my larger dogs is able to lie down.

in the bed they’re all able to lie down and have their own space. In fairness, I do have the bed air conditioned and have LED lighting back there plugged in since the bed lights don’t work when the truck is in drive.
