It's the same people.

If you notice, the Service Advisors often get entrenched in typing on their systems. They are answering their messages, more than likely.

The first couple of messages that you get may be automated though. And the Service Advisors can kick off some automated messages.
If it's the same person then I must have Jekyll or Hyde as my advisor because If I ask about the availability of a loaner in the app I get rejected hard then I end up making plans for a ride and when I drop off they are basically forcing the loaner on me. I swear its crazy sometimes.

I have an upcoming first service to take care of some minor issues at delivery, including light scratches on multiple panels. I wonder if having them buff out the scratches will result in a truck that looks worse. Maybe I should just live with it.
I think the jury is still out on that one. As some mentioned here it may just be that the metal wasn't properly cleaned after the sanding. It may be that it just wasn't done properly in my case and just required more time for a better process. Or it was just done wrong and they are going to replace the Bedside metal and learn from their mistakes I'm not sure yet. I messaged them asking what the course of action is for the bedside metal and their response was "the team is sourcing parts for your vehicle" however there was nothing on the estimate for the bedside fix so I'm not sure if that means they will update the estimate with the new metal when it is ordered or what. I am just going to stop in and talk to them in person at this point.

Just see what they can do.

It's a queue that they process. You really don't have a single Service Advisor. And that's a good concept, because that means that they can take days off and your vehicle still gets processed.

And loaners are generally first-come, first-served, AFAIK.

I have some very light vertical scratches (like 5) on the frunk that are quite hard to see, but they are there. I have seen them on one other truck, as though there's a step in handling that put em there. I chose to live with them for fear of a risk the fix would be worse.

Yeah a concept it sure is. I usually just end up going there so I can have a quick conversation and be done with it. Something that we used to do on the phone. For this fixing of delivery concerns for example they left my service request in que for a week before saying anything at all until I added another minor concern suddenly I get a response a few hours later. The response doesn’t even address the major concern which is the discolored metal after their quick 5 minute repair. So I ask for clarification on the course of action and a day later I get “parts are being ordered”. Which parts? What’s the repair? So instead of another back and forth I’m just going to go up there with the truck and talk to a human.

The loaner thing is still frustrating. I don’t bother making arrangements to be picked up anymore because they offer me one in person every time I drop off after the person messaging basically tells me to tough cookies deal with it. I’ll just take an Uber if they leave me without transportation. Works for me because I have a spare car but for people that don’t I imagine they would factor that into their next purchase decision if it’s important they have a car to use.

In my years, of having ICE vehicles fixed, never once have I been offered a loaner nor Uber credits.

Update:

After three attempts of them sanding the metal it still didn’t look right. Finally I asked them to just replace the entire panel and they agreed. Pic is after the last attempt of sanding. I’m very happy they did the right thing and replaced it.

There is definitely an art to creating a great finish and all service centers are not equal. I brought mine back to remove a deep scratch identified on delivery. Looked like a rigging chain hit it - I thought they would have to replace the panel. However, in about 1 hour, they made it disappear and the finish looked amazing. Maybe I got lucky.

It’s my personal opinion that my service center is running the sander at too high of a speed. I can hear them working it in the back and it sounds like it’s running at Mach Jesus. Eventually I’d like to find someone local that has it down to a science if I ever need any thing buffed out. I’ve mentioned to them the need to run it slowly to avoid heat but I’m just a lowly customer lol.

Been too busy driving it for that lol. I have been wiping fingerprints off constantly.
I used to be in the same boat and was debating what protectant I wanted (did not want to wrap). However, once I installed these door grabs, the problem disappeared. I only rarely have to wipe off fingerprints (generally just me and my wife riding in it) so no longer planning any treatment.

I need to get those. I push the corner of the glass to close the doors currently. Rarely deal with fingerprints unless I have passengers. Learned to love the stainless I really don’t think I wanna wrap it.
