Remove the plastic side covers to gain access to the left and right cargo track rails and loosen their attaching screws. Then, using large screwdriver or short pry bar push the rails up as high as possible and retorque the attaching screws while applying good pressure. (Helps to have another person). Then reattach the side covers. I’ve done two and dividers now engage everywhere along the tracks. Save modifying anything if it works for you. Apologies if someone else has suggested this

Have you put it all the way against the wall to just use as an additional molle panel instead of as a divider?

do you have photos and instructions for what side panels you're referring to?

Instructions for properly removing/reinstalling the bed side liners are in the repair manual. Best to follow those to avoid breaking clips, etc. They don’t have to all be completely removed, just enough to gain access. I’ll take photos if we do another one.

I don't think I'd go this route. For mine, I need to lift one side so the top angles downward and I can get it in the other side. Then I put my weight on the first side and I can put it in. I think there is supposed to be a lot of tension on it to make it secure. Otherwise, cargo would be able to push against the divider low down along the floor and you'd have a lever action that would stress the top.

Yes. I found exactly the same conditions. Thanks for the clear pictures and explanation.
Side panels need to be at least partially removed

Fellas, some FS CT will not fit the cargo divider I have been at the service center twice for this reason with no luck. they tried every way they could think of to make it fit. finally decided to give me the new redesigned version(dont have the new one yet) I will add to this that recently and painfully it's been brought to my attention that i need to add the bed mat. or bed protector that solves the problem of losing small things through the gap that is there for draining the bed.

There are a million threads on this.
most people did 1 of 2 things. They removed the little plastic guides from inside on each end to give it more play . Just take the bolt off the end pull it out pull the slides out and put it back together. Make sure to tighten the ends with the same thread exposed as before you took it off. or they loosened the bed tracks and tried to push them up. For me there is zero room to go that route so I took the guides out. It works better but truthfully it shouldn’t be as hard as it is. I emailed the Tesla shop and sent them photos and they agreed to send me a new one. Funny enough I received it today and it’s EXATLY THE SAME SIZE!!
Not really sure why adding a bed liner would help it. It would make it worse! The problem is the ridges in your bed are bottoming out so it can’t follow enough to clamp in
