Front bumper hit in parking lot. Bumper replacement or repair?

Someone hit my parked truck, front bumper. Has anybody done a replacement or repairs on this area? The shiny part that’s slightly sticking out did pop back in.

I have not personally done any repairs for the front bumper but your local SC should be able to give you a detailed estimate of the repair or if a replacement is necessary. I usually message them via the app.

I’ve never repaired something like that but from what I understand a heat gun over the effected area could restore the color in the plastic.

Not worth reporting to insurance and police for 2k. You will lose more in value when and if you ever decide to sell it. That unfortunately is the unfair world we live in these days.

If they had the license plate on sentry cam they could go after the insurance company for a Diminished Value Claim and the Bumper repair… but I agree probably not worth doing.

If that doesn't help, you can also do a bed liner spray over the bumper. Would look cool too

I hit a bear with my CT the second day i had it. I had to replace the front bumper and the energy absorbing plastic behind it as well as the black plastic applique above it. Your damage is very light. The plastic will snap back in place and your bumper can either be just repainted a flat black or if you have a heat gun you can apply heat to it and reform it. After you will still need to mask of the bumper and paint it flat black.

We had a similar scuff on our rear bumper (user-induced, although lack of any parking aids and sun-glare off the dash obscuring the wide mirrors were certainly a contributing factor...)

As others have suggested, a heat gun will bring back the 'shine' and somewhat retexture, but you have to be careful, otherwise you just have weird shiny spots all over the place, lacking consistency. Here's our before and after, but note, I had to sand it back and take a craft knife to it to reprofile it. It's FAR from perfect, but it's a truck, so I can live with it.

The main thing that hides the damage is a good trim treatment to black it back out. I use Chemical Guys stuff. After some googling, I did also buy a can of this, but haven't got around to trying it. Has good reviews though. I do need to go attack it again with a blade to do a better job of restoring the true profile./angles, but I'll probably be covering it up with product we have in development soon, so not worth the effort just yet.

Are there any reports on the UP Performance bumpers.? Are they more effective a prevention of damage from low speed bumps?
