You bring up a good point, I had not considered this. I don’t have kids but do have families children in car with me from time to time.

I can’t test right now, but you’re saying the release still works even if child locks are on? This isn’t really an issue for me but curious for the sake of others.

That's correct, the "child lock" merely disables the release button. The emergency release cannot be deactivated.

What in the world are you on about? It's in everyone's best interest that creative measures are taken to ensure people are aware of all basic safety features of the car.

I don't disagree that we need to make best efforts to ensure owners are aware of the safety measures in their vehicles, but there are many features of which they should be aware, and the information may be overwhelming on a first walk through.

Unfortunately, if the buyer has to sign off that they understand what they've been told, it will likely involve paragraphs of legalese that few would read and fewer could understand. And, again, the purpose is to protect the corporation and likely not the buyer. The rest was a rant against corporate greed. Sorry.

I can be as simple as one demonstration animation on the screen that you have to choose "I understand" before you can program a new key. Keep it as simple as possible.

Looks like it’s even worse than originally thought. Everyone stay safe and keep a fire extinguisher nearby. Emergency responders say they have never seen a car fire this bad.

Hadn't really thought about the whole kid door side of things. So in non-Teslas if you leave your kid doors on by mistake the rear passengers are trapped.

Happens quite alot, if you don't remember to unlock the doors...

Not really. A pack fire has its own oxygen, so a fire extinguisher won't do anything to it.

The only thing you can do is get it cooler, which is why they spray it or dunk it.

That's a good idea. Perhaps they could do a whole intro to your car thing like that. I know they have intro videos. Maybe watch and acknowledge each one.

I know there's an FSD acknowledgement you have to click on. I wonder if they can also reinforce the need to always keep control of the vehicle while in FSD.
