Took delivery of our Beast on 8/3. Was told the last note in the system was 7/27 stating Qmerit would reach out in 2 weeks.

Monday I texted the number I had asking what the status was and just got told we won’t be getting PowerShare, the voucher or anything till the end of this year.

is that legal? I feel like we all have grounds for a class action

I am not a PowerShare installer nor do I contract with tesla

however I am an owner of an electrical contracting business.

When dealing with 400A services, what we do with backup power is designate (1) 200A panel as the backup panel and place the transfer switch in front of that panel from the meter. Also coming from the meter is a standard service rated disconnect switch to the non backup panel.

In a situation where designating a backup panel simply won’t work and the entire service must be available to be backed up, we simply install (2) transfer switches off the meter or single 400 depending on customer’s situation.

I have not looked too far into powershare (until Tesla approves me as a vendor i see no point), but i imagine you can split your 400A service with a designated backup panel. PowerShare does appear to operate off a similar relay that opens and closes based on the presence of utility power.
Thanks for the information. I am debating my options but since I have not heard anything from any contractor regarding my request to buy a powerwall from Tesla it is hard to compare. My 2 breaker boxes divide my house in two with essential stuff like hot water and heat pump of different panels. I eventually want to install solar and wind (it gets really windy here) and wonder if opting for a whole new breaker system that is computer controlled is worth it.

Great post and thanks for all this information.

My CB is ordered pending VIN and Delivery at this point. 1st Post

I went ahead to see what the price tag for Powershare install would be and it came in at $13.6, upgrading 400A service, U Wall Connector in detached, communication wires from detached, U Wall Conn install.
Qmerit funneled this to a 3rd party that I’ll reject. Glad I found this post as setting up a 50A Gen cutover is likely the better choice. Power reliability is very good at my residence so setting up Powershare is more of a nice to have. I like the idea of the generator inlet and cutover as well since you don’t need to abandon the Powershare when you sell the house. I’ll plan to go direct to a local electrician for service upgrade.

I’d like to maximize the $2500 credit and get the wall connector once that shows up on or after delivery and just use the included Mobile Connector NEMA 14-50 initially. That should get me good overnight recovery close to the 80% at 10hrs. Anybody else wait on the Wall or Univ Charger install?

I have a Tesla Universal Wall Connector set to charge at 32 amps - same as the max speed of the mobile connector. I think you'll be fine ;-)

It's pretty simple to wire in a NEMA 14-50 plug to the Tesla Universal Wall Connector which saves you on installation and maintains the flexibility of the NEMA 14-50 outlet - not that I'm recommending it of course.

I installed our Gen 3 wall connector at the new house and it would charge for a minute and turn off. I tried everything including commissioning it on the Tesla One app. I even rewired it... Still, it charges for a minute and then there's a red light that goes off when you unplug and it then acts like nothing is wrong. I eventually wired in a NEMA 14-50 plug and we use the mobile charger. Anyway, my point is this - If you rely on your mobile charger every day and the day comes when it has stopped working, what do you do? I was glad we had that set as a backup. Now, the backup plan is that when I get my truck, I'll get a UWC with the powershare bundle if that's a thing still.

Question for the group: If I bought a Powerwall, when (if, really) Tesla installs my home connection stuff, will the connection from grid to Cybertruck be seamless or will the power be out for a while? I know with just the truck, there can be a gap of time when the truck wakes up but in my proposal, the Powerwall would basically be instant. Right?

Yeah, with Powerwall it's mostly instant, but depends on house state at the time and how the grid acts before transfer.

Just successfully tested using CT as a generator with a 75 foot cord to my 50 amp inlet. Worked like a charm.
