The weird thing is that I got my CT in March. I have never been shocked, and it has happened since July. Every time I open the driver’s door I get a shock

That could be weather related. When was the last time it rained where you live?

Hey. So its kind of getting annoying for me that EVERY time I exit the CT and I go to grab the outside of the door to close it, I always get a static shock. I know its dumb, but any way to prevent this? Like an easy way to ground my seat/me or something ?

Yes. So much that I still jump on the odd occasion it doesn’t shock me.

My wrap solved the issue with the shock. I do think it is related to both the local weather and “how you slide off the seat.”

But for me the wrap means no more shocks! If I decide to touch the INSIDE of the door where the wrap doesn’t reach, I will still get a minor shock. Now I have a workaround - enjoy closing the door much more now! :)

I'd actually like to do a more scientific approach to this and have people who respond, please answer these questions so we can hopefully find some correlation:

1) Are the shocks random or every time ?
2) Is it only when getting in or also when you get out of the vehicle ?
3) Do you live in a dry climate or moist ?
4) Do you have rubber floormats inside the truck ?
5) What surface is the truck parked on when you get shocked ?
6) Are your feet touching the ground when you get shocked ?
7) What sort of clothing are you wearing when you get shocked ?
8) Is the vehicle wrapped ? Also, is it a Vinyl or PPF wrap ?
9) Which part of the vehicle are you touching when you get shocked ?
9b) If you are touching it with both hands when you get shocked, where is the other hand ?
10) Is the vehicle plugged in when you get shocked ?

I have not experienced a shock. I have owned it since April 30 and have 5,200 milles on it. It's naked steel. I live near Austin, Texas. Have rubber floor mats. I like to open and close the doors using the plastic trim pieces to minimize finger prints, but some part of my hand is often on the steel. Just not an issue for me and no one else riding in the truck has mentioned to me that they have felt a shock.

1. Every time (prior to the wrap).
2) Exiting the vehicle only.
3) Seattle so moist, but it was even during the dead of summer.
4) Yes.
5) Asphalt, cement.
6) Yes, I don’t know how to fly yet.
7) Assume all types.
8) Now it’s wrapped - NO MORE SHOCK.
9) Outside of driver door.
10) No.

And CT wrapped with clear matt PPF.
I am thinking about doing that. How is the clear matte PPF? Does it cut down on the reflectiveness and give the truck a softer look or does it just make the truck look dull? Seriously interested.
