Hi all, first time posting here.

So it's completely my fault for not catching this on delivery day, but the adrenaline high I was on definitely made me overlook this now glaring "defect" on the passenger side door of my Cybertruck (please see attached photos).

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this kind of marking/discoloration on another Cybertruck or might know what it is and how to fix it? I was going to over to a Tesla service center and see what they say but it's about an hour away. I've had the truck for about 8 days now and am hoping that it isn't too late for something to be done to fix it. However, if there's something that I can do myself to fix it I'm totally open to suggestions!

FYI I've tried cleaning it off a few different ways so it doesn't seem like any kind of residue or grime that can be wiped off.

Thanks!

It’s normal for stainless to vary in hue/brightness over time, but yeah that’s weird. I’d start with the recommended Citrisurf and move up to BKF, with repeated applications of increasing aggressiveness.

It can definitely be corrected, but you might end up doing the whole side of the truck to make it match.

Awesome I'll look into this and give it a try.

So in your opinion this isn't something that I should try to show to the Tesla service center to see if they're willing or able to accommodate fixing it in house?

Thanks again :]

Interesting. I had a similar but smaller mark in the exact same place. Look at my old posts. I've done citrisurf and BKF more than once and it is slowly getting better.

Every time I take it through the car wash, it seems to get a little better. It's hardly noticeable now.

Possibly marks left by a buffer or sander ?

If i’m not mistaken this has been discussed previously and it’s a mark from the suction cup on the machine that moves the panels around during assembly and there are a few tricks that get it off without much of an issue. I don’t have my CT/CB yet but I believe others had this and it wasn’t that difficult to get off in the end but i don’t remember what the best product recommendation was… probably barkeeper’s friend though, it’s literally like the windex in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding on this forum.

Cheers

I had a small similar mark on driver side rear door. It went away over time. Took delivery April 9. Still never washed the truck, nor tried to remove it. It’s magic!

I have a similar spot on my hood. I figured it was from Tesla buffing out some imperfection.

Since owning the truck for a couple months I've shifted my thinking on the stainless from expecting it to be perfect to instead having character and a patina. Kind of like how really high quality leather often has natural markings.

I am 100% in your camp. Also, The Smoking Tire once said, “Having a beater is true luxury.” Not that the CT is a beater, but obsessing over my car is something from my past from which I’ve chosen to move away. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that.” -Jerry Seinfeld

I think it’s fairly difficult to get it right yourself but they use an air sander to get the factory finish. I would go to the service center. I had similar defects they made it look perfect.

That was my expectation from original announcement. Seriously, who hasn't had a life's worth of experience with stainless steel? How can you avoid it, household staff? Did they think it would somehow be different on a truck? ?

Hey I'm quite confident our waterless spray will clean this. I know you tried several products that's why I'm going to send it for free with no shipping costs. Can you message me your address and I'll expedite it to you?
