Does anyone else have this problem? I just picked up my truck two days ago and drove on a very smooth asphalt road. When I hit a very small bump, I saw both of the wheel covers on the passenger side fly off and roll into a ditch. Now I'm thinking I can't leave these on because there are a ton of potholes even on the highway. How much of an issue is this? I can see that they should probably only be on the wheels on the highway apparently?
My CT was delivered with new Aero Caps with A/S tires 08/23, so far no issues. (Less than 500 miles)

Honestly, now I have no idea. Has anyone seen the new cyber wheel covers or are the only ones that have been shipping/delivering recently the core wheel covers? Looking at the renderings from the order page is confusing, and OP’s looks like a hybrid of the two.
someone posted a photo of them on several new CTs at the Atlanta center. CT's program manager said on X they are distributing them to new vehicles because it is easier to just do it from the factory.... while they continue to figure out how to get us ours. It's BS. I encourage anyone frustrated by this to send this guy a message like I did (see attached):

that is likely to not even get a response. Hopefully we get ours in the mail. I'm sure not driving 4 hours to get mine

They said they had not seen a cover in person - so apparently at least locally these were some of the very first ones. Nothing seemed broken when they inspected the covers. Some damage to the outer rubber from flying off the wheels - but that was just cosmetic.

It was interesting that both the service technicians and I thought that the covers appeared to stick out further from the wheels than you would expect them to. All four look like this. It does seem like there is a possibility that too much airflow might get between the covers and have the ability (in some circumstances) to pull them off. I guess it makes sense this would be in the redesign since the original covers wear too close, and resulting in rubbing the tires.

We agreed I would drive around and see if it happens again.

I made it home and they are still on so I'll update if they come off again.

Definitely report this to Telsa. If there is a problem with the new design, I would rather they start fixing it now, rather than spending the next several months rolling these out, only to then recall them again.

The first redesign involved the overall size and shape to keep it from rubbing the tire. Does anyone know if they even changed the mounting clips at all? I don't have either version, so I have no way to compare. The old version, while problematic for the rubbing issue, did not seem to have any trouble staying on.

I also wonder if it is possible that they were just not installed correctly on your truck. Like, maybe all of the clips were not engaged or something? Did you install them yourself, or did Tesla install them for you?
They were on the truck when I picked the truck up. I didn't even think to take them off and put them back on.

When I drove about two miles I noticed that the rear passenger side cover was coming off so I reinstalled it (I thought correctly).

Two days later, driving down an asphalt road at about 35 miles an hour, I hit a very small pothole and both the front and rear passenger side covers came off.

I can't say for sure that they were installed correctly or not. Hopefully not, as I would rather this not be an actual issue. The service technicians said the few trucks that just came in had them on when they arrived and no one locally did anything with the covers. They actually seemed curious to look at them in detail as they said they had not had the chance to work on them in person yet.

Tesla told me just a couple weeks ago when I picked up my Beast that they recalled them and stopped deliveries with them for this very reason; they were popping off very easily while driving. They said they’ll provide them once ready. Surprised you got them.
Was it the local Tesla that told you that? I asked the technicians (three of them looked at my wheel covers today) if they had heard about a recall again and they said no. They also said that a lot of times people coming in hear about recalls before they do (which I thought was odd).

Seems they will have to redo them again before we get them, or give up. That or they'll make a lot of $$$ on the $75 replacements in the store ;-).

Honestly, I can see them giving up on current owners. At some point logistically, how are they going to mail out or install 20,000+ wheel covers x4 to everyone.

Here is a closeup of the old design. I took this photo back in December on a showroom display model.

I just added all the photos together to make the comparison easier.
