I got mine very early it was $4000. Since then, Tesla changed to QMerit and they upcharge a lot more at least that is what my installer was telling me.

I was over $6,600 in NJ.

But got educated and had a 50 amp generator inlet with lockout installed for $1,500. Then bought a generator cable for ~$200. Already tested feeding power from the 240 outlet in the truck bed to the house, easy as can be and saved me $5K on the install PLUS I get to keep my $2,500 voucher for shop goodies. Yes, it's more manual, but saving $7,500 is not nothing to me.

My quote from QMerit was north of $11,000. Like the OP, I have a 200 amp panel right next to my truck. I think this was just a money grab. But, I went with the generator interlock for less than $2000 and used my $2500 credit for other stuff.

My quote was $14,000+ in Northern California. I passed on that to say the least. My panel required upgrade, and was on the opposite side of the house to be fair. I will eventually go the generator interlock route as well, or opt for powerwall in a few years.

I recommend calling the qmerit assigned installer who provided you the quote and review your job with them ….in my case I got them to drop significantly since my setup required very little cabling upstate NY …$2800

They did not drop the price right away took a number of weeks before they came back to me

I didn’t receive a credit… Elon screwed me again since I ordered 5 days after the mysterious beast cutoff.

But my quote was $3,500 in North Carolina. Very honest electrician however

I am noticing a lot of quotes from Qmerit are astronomical. Reach out to Smart charge america. They took a crazy $14k quote from qmerit to $4k for me. Same exact install minus a surge protection.
I thought we HAD to use Qmerit to get this done. Can I buy the equipment under contract with someone else?

Is there a way to alert Elon to this? I don't have social media but I'd be willing to setup an X account and start tagging him.

I'm in that process right now. Someone else on this forum said we could so I started the process. I will have an answer in a few days/week.

Thanks. Please let me (us, I suppose) know how it goes.
