Does anyone live in the South Bay area in CA? I just got a quote from one of the Qmerit installers for $19k to install the powershare! That's crazy! My house has no solar and has a 100A breaker coming in, so not a huge power demand for a 2200 sq ft house. I would love to go to another contractor besides thru Qmerit. The Tesla site only links to Qmerit.

I haven't gotten that far. Its taken me almost a month to get a quote.
My quote was similar to yours……300 dollars higher. I am in a queue of 20 waiting for installation. Luckly, Hurricane Milton missed S Florida so I can wait.

I got my contractor down to $3400. First proposal was $5k. I’m in NM. Waiting on permit, but definitively pulling the trigger since the equipment arrived.

QMerit quote in North Texas below.

I live in a 4 year old developer home.

I denied four bids from "qmerit" affiliated electrical contractors before I accepted the 5th bid below for $3,400 and change. Two of the five contractors called me to attempt to explain why the cost was so high. Bottom line, the base price is fixed so qmerit can "get theirs," and also potentially break off Tesla as well. I'm going under the assumption that QMerit doesn't get Tesla exclusivity for free. They seem to act like a 3rd party referral company so the install is one less thing Tesla has to deal with.

The first four bids came in as high as 5k+ all the way down to 3.6k.

This is the most reasonable one I've seen.

Electrician claims full day's work to install. Will post pics of the work when done.

I noticed this as well. Previously you were able to put in your zip code and it would give you Tesla certified installers around your area. A week or so later no Tesla certified installers were showing up anymore. I checked this morning and the site was updated and it seems like everything is through Qmerit to find an installer for you.

I still haven't gotten any progress with my install.
I did speak with another rep from the company that was originally assigned. He told me they basically select dropdowns on the Qmerit portal they have and don't enter anything in directly.
For example I specifically told them it would be no more than 35' to the charger and they selected 30' on the quote. He told me his dropdown was 10', 30', and 60'.
They also can't give me a quote directly as they were originally contacted by Qmerit on the project (makes sense) but that their direct quote would not be the same.

Hello all, its been a while on this topic but I just got an update on the program ending.

Qmerit is calling people and telling them that if a quote has not been accepted by 03/18/2025 that Tesla is ending the program and will be sending vouchers to people.
They did claim that if there was an issue with no installer in the area there might be a waver from Tesla.

This is especially frustrating if you had the $4000 credit (cyberbeast) but were still being gouged for a basic install.

For a basic install that only connects, does not go inline between the meter and the box its still over $4500. I did talk to the installer and he had frustrations with the options available for them to enter. Everything was dropdowns and they could not put in their numbers.

You could go with a non-Qmerit Powerwall certified installer, that's what I did.

I tried that but couldn't get any in the area to do a quote. I had one company I was working with but they ended up not getting back to me with an actual quote after multiple communications.

I think one of the requirements is a 200A service, it’s so much because they have to upgrade all your electrical since you only have 100A.
