I kinda agree with the OP. I am a big fan of Tesla vehicles but never whole-heartedly recommend anyone buy one because of the really poor service availability. In my area, the service centers are great once you get in but it is a 2 month waiting list. My wife's AC died in her 2018 Model S and it'll be another month before she will be able to bring it in. I live in Phoenix with triple digit temperatures daily so this is a big problem. So any time I show my Tesla, there is always that caveat I feel compelled to mention. They are great! ..until they're not. For most people who are nervous about the switch to EV, that is all it takes to make them decide to wait. Tesla really needs to fix this.

FYI, I had a new Honda whose body style had just been updated/redesigned 4 months prior. I had the unfortunate luck of getting into a wreck the 2nd week of owning it. It took months to get the parts for it to be fixed. It's a new model problem more than a Tesla problem.

This March, it took almost a month for my Tesla body shop to get a bumper cap for a model 3.

Tesla !
My Cybertruck that’s been in service since July 19th after being rear-ended. As a loyal Tesla customer who’s supported the brand for years and even paid extra for the foundation, I’m feeling pretty let down by how things have gone so far.

It took 3 weeks just to get an estimate, and now I’m being told it’ll take another 3 weeks to assemble after the parts finally arrived. I get there are challenges, but that kind of timeline isn’t acceptable, especially for someone who’s stuck by Tesla from the start.

I’ve shown my support for Tesla, and I really hope Tesla can show a bit more appreciation by speeding things up and keeping me in the loop. Can you please give me an update and let me know how this can be resolved faster?
My wife was rear ended in early April after she just purchased her new Outback Wilderness. Minor damage to the plastic trim and liftgate. Sent it to Subaru to be repaired and received the vehicle back at the end of July - 3 months. This is not a “Tesla” issue and happens with pretty much any newer vehicle that I’ve had any experience with. “don’t buy” is a crazy over exaggeration even with your frustration while waiting. I was frustrated with Subaru for taking 3 months to repair her Outback, but never once did the thought cross my mind to warn others not to buy the vehicle because of it.

I've been in the bad Service boat with Tesla a few times. Right now they randomly cancelled my extended service agreement on my X and can't tell me why (because no one knows). Im going to have to cancel my appt for tomorrow because I am not about to out of pocket for something that should be Covered.

That being said. Early adopters tend to have early adopter pains. Slow service is expected at this point with Tesla (at least for all the longtime supporters I know) and it's going to be worse with their newest vehicle made with new parts and new manufacturing methods.

I hope they get it figured out for you. Might be something to consider next time a brand new Tesla comes out.

When I had my model Y repaired I used a third party and it was pretty reasonable timing. (2021)

Side note. Tesla has proven they don't care about loyalty to longtime supporters with the whole rollout of this truck. I wouldn't expect service to be different

I actually agree! I love my truck, and I have two other Teslas; however, after dealing with the service manager in Jacksonville I can’t say for certain I’ll be staying a Tesla customer when it comes time for trade-ins.

In a previous life, I owned one of the two Tesla certified bodyshops in the country. If you got in an accident in a Roadster east of the Mississippi, I fixed your car. Parts were a nightmare and we basically wrote the book on repair procedures. Like the Roadster, the CT is relatively new and most shops do not have experience repairing them as of yet. My guess is the CT is not even in any estimating software. I was also Lamborghini, Bentley, Fisker and a few others. None of these were in our estimating software and estimates often took weeks to write. It was not uncommon for a repair to take six to twelve months.

A few months ago I stopped by one of my old shops and the manager said, "I hope you dont get in an accident with it." Drive Safe!

LOL. This topic is silly.

Hot tip, don't buy the first year of a new vehicle if you are impatient or have no chill. Often there are gremlins to be worked out and repairs will take longer. This is not a Tesla only thing. Ford, Toyota, or any vehicle maker will have the same type of turnaround in this situation.

Also, there is a reason car insurance companies offer rental coverage. It's because collision repair takes a long time even in ideal situations.

I hope I am never in this situation. I can see the frustration. I didn’t want to but I got a dental implant. It is taking almost a year to get it done. Somethings just take time. I guess ct falls in this category.

This is exactly why Tesla has been very choosy with regard to who they invited to the Foundation series.

If you didn't want to be an early adopter, you should have waited lol
