All Teslas have the electric motor sound when accelerating. Only the Cybertruck has the constant gear whine sound to go with this. I feel like only some have stated they have this. Tesla service (2 different locations) have told me this is normal and exclusive to how the truck was made and it is indeed gear whine.

As it gets colder, it's getting louder. It's really my biggest gripe with the truck, it's really loud in the interior. I wanted to see if everyone had this and if anyone was any to get this fixed. (Video/Audio Coming).

The sound starts at 4mph and stops around 55-60....even if you hold 4 mph or any speed, it remains (unlike the motor sound) as shown here.

I agree. It’s annoying because it happens even when you are just holding speed. Like nails on a chalkboard to me. Luckily I always have music playing.

That, and the poor visibility off left and right front are the only things I don’t love about the truck.

I posted this because I've seen some say the CT is extremely quiet in the cabin. Maybe they are ok with this sound? But I hope they just don't have it and a number of us have an issue that can be fixed. It's louder than an ICE car. My MS, MY, and M3s have been dead silent when not accelerating.

Edit: If everyone has the same sound, I think I can force myself to get over it.

Mine does not sound like that. Mine has a whine but it’s intermittent, almost cyclical, as I’m maintaining speeds 20-40, and quieter than the sound in that video. Still annoying if no music on.

How many miles does yours have? Mine has gotten progressively louder and more persistent with mileage. I'm around 10k miles now and it's constant. According to the 2 SCs that's because the truck is broken in and it's as expected.

Mine is at low speed and intermittent, not noticeable without music on but once you hear it you can’t un-hear it. I actually mentioned at service early on and they ended up replacing the front drive into. The new one is exactly the same. Also, it doesn’t sound like yours and nowhere near as pound as an ice at speed.

I’m at 6,500. I don’t think mine makes a whine on acceleration, besides a slight whir that actually sounds kinda cool. The whine for me is just while coasting at slower speeds. I’ll take a video so you can compare.

When comparing mine to an ICE vehicle, it's at low speeds. The CT is still quieter than an ICE vehicle at higher speeds, despite the gear whine.

I want to clarify that, lol.

Yours is not as loud?

I honestly feel that the video doesn't do it justice, it's pretty loud in the cabin to where random people (usually Tesla owners) ask what that sound is. I think it's because most Teslas are so quiet, they are kind of shocked.

Not as loud or persistent. Are you in South Carolina or Southern California ?

Same. I am happy to let you hear it in person sometime if it’s convenient.
I assume you took yours to the Savannah SC?

I've tried Charlotte and Columbia, but both said this is how the CT is supposed to sound. "It's a truck, not a SUV or sedan, it's going to be louder than the rest of the Tesla fleet" is what I was told.

I did. For what it’s worth, that’s what they told me too. They sent my original front drive unit back after they replaced it and the engineers said it was working as intended. It may be as simple as whatever is insulating the motor noise is different or missing on yours. Obviously, that’s just pure speculation.
