I find it incredibly hard to believe that Wes and the rest of the team didn’t run into this issue in all of their winter testing

Can one of you guys post this on X and tag Wes?

had the same problem during our current snow storm. the horizontal light bar is not the headlight. The headlights are located just above the front bumper which has a lip collecting snow. had to get out a couple times to clear the snow to see the road.

other than that the truck performed flawlessly on the snowy/icy roads!

Heavy blowing snow and slush froze over my headlight bar last night. It was very difficult for me to see while driving. Turning on the brights had no effect.

I turned on my hazards and followed the road's tire tracks *very slowly* to get home.

Anyone else experience this? What's the solution?
Winter is going to be rough. What a terrible design

the only answer was to get heated headlights
they don’t heat up enough to melt the snow off!
should make a kit using transparent heated films
but we do need heated led covers
the lack of heat generated from the LEDs will ultimately make you need to clear out the fixtures
They should just move the phone charger to behind the headlights

I'll leave the solution to the guy that can catch a rocket in the air.

I think it should be an easy solution for him and his buddies. I'm hoping they don't dis this and do nothing. It would be a shame if they dodge this and don't step up and recognize their error and correct it.

Rear facing fender and tailgate camera seem to get ocluded the worst, but the two main front cameras have heaters and the wiper to keep them clean.
B pillars have been fairly dust/dirt/mud resistant, which may bode well for winter.
And then I got problem with FSD disengaging with minor dust with the message: front camera degraded. ?

To be fair, it also is covered the front of the frunk. I'm not sure what the expectation is here.

As someone who lives in the Northeast, I've had plenty of times where snow or ice in certain conditions has covered my headlights on every vehicle I've ever owned.

it's not overblown. Recessed lights have a much bigger issue than other vehicles. My model Y would almost never get covered because the lights were part of the aerodynamic profile of the vehicle. Snow would blow over them rather than stop there. But my jeep, and now the cybertruck, have lights that are recessed. the snow does not just blow past those. I have like 7 miles on the highway between work and home. Zero street lights between the exits. when it's snowing, the lights on my jeep would be totally covered well before my off ramp. Model Y would never have a problem. The truck will be similar to the jeep without some solution

That gives me hope and not wanting to spend 3k plus on winter wheel/tire set.
Tire chains can be a wiser alternative. And you might even be needing them except for the peace of mind.

Obviously vision-based FSD will not work too as cameras will also be blocked by snow-ice.
...
The front cameras are cleared by the wiper so FSD is not blinded during most snowstorms, of course the side and rear cameras may require cleaning at times, same with the recessed headlights.....I'm sure I'll adjust and learn to clean both the usual windows AND that front bumper ledge...time will tell how much of a PITA this becomes.

My bigger concern is that as of last winter FSD is often "really bad" at adjusting for snow covered and icy road conditions, perhaps that will get better soon, but winter driving is tough on everyone.....

Winter is going to be rough. What a terrible design
We will find out soon enough, I'm hopeful that the speed will minimize snow build up, but TBH most of us northerners are accustomed to clearing snow in such conditions. Addding one more chore before leaving in a snowstorm isn't that big an adjustment 2-6x / year
