Having driven a 1,000 miles in the truck, I can safely say I will not be getting the FSD. That said, I’m a huge fan of the autopilot on the Model Y.

Does anyone know if autopilot (with lane centering, specifically) is in the pipeline?

It is listed as for the standard models, but I know of no timeline being posted here.

My MIL 2020 Subie has better first gen adaptive cruise control with lane keep assist, and her model was only $26k. ??

Hers doesn't have FSD, so I am not sure what you're laughing about.

Subaru's also doesn't work at all on winding roads or roads with long, narrow patching or lane revisions; it's only meant to shake the steering when it sees you're going out of the lane. I don't know that Tesla has that useless level of assistance.

Sorry I wasn't more clear about context. Tesla CT basic Autopilot compared to MIL's Subie adaptive cruise. I take my hands off the wheel and it will steer itself for a brief period, before alerting you to pit hands back on steering wheel. Autopilot is more like adaptive cruise control only. No steering involved. Otherwise, we'd have to pay subscription. Don't get me wrong, FSD 12 or 13 is superior by order's of magnitude. But at the moment CT autopilot is starving.

The Cybertruck probably doesn't have Autopilot yet because they focused on getting FSD available for the truck instead of dumb lane-following.

Cybertruck will probably get Autopilot when its FSD catches up with the main FSD branch without the weird lane position issue it's been having.

I used the trial version and see a new welcomed perspective. But after the trial it reverted back to basic Autopilot..... ? I know. Because of my current driving needs, we're most likely going just use FSD on a subscription basis.?

TACC no AP suite of the two features that make it up (details below). Some are feeling it is a arm twisting to get people to purchase/sub to FSD for the obvious few reasons ($ & #s).

Cybertruck does not have both actual autopilot suite of two features like every other Tesla. It only has TACC. Manual confirms it. See below.
Autopilot = Autosteer (lane centering) + TACC (aka. Adaptive Cruise Control)
If a Cybertruck owner did not purchase FSD (exits, etc) then they'd not have Autopilot just TACC (distance following) but not lane centering.

Tesla Model X manual shows complete Autopilot with TACC and Autosteer.

If you can autosteer in FSD you can autosteer… period

They are simply choosing to not allow the option now for a myriad of reasons., but the tech is there.

Would they really release a new product in this day that can’t achieve this..? Especially a product which is really pushing the limits on what is possible..

They already have it. FSD v13 added it.

Rear steering added some complications. I've read the first FSD versions on the CT had fixed the rear wheels straight but the latest (?) one turns them as well as the front wheels.

You don't understand the difference here. They are **specifically** selectable AP (AS+TACC) ** OR ** FSD.

AutoPilot = TACC + AutoSteer [TACC ~= Adaptive Cruise Control / ACC]
It comes with all Teslas as standard equipment AFAIK.

In basic Autopilot, I've let go of the sqircle and went wading in marsh......? jk!

Point is, from my perspective basic Autopilot is just Adaptive CC with audible alerts if you drift out of your lane, but no auto correction, which leads me back to my OP. 2020 Subie 1st gen allows you AdaptiveCC, take your hands off for appx 10 secs before alerting. So I agree with earlier member, push FSD.

Happy Holidays all. Be safe!!

Basic Autopilot has lane following listed as a feature.

TACC does not.

Maybe you're confusing the two?
