I'm well acquainted with snakes. Rattlers aren't the only snakes that control rodents. They aren't the only ones that can kill you. I have spent time in Panama where the Fer-de-Lance abounds. Much more deadly and fast than any Rattler. I almost picked up a Cottonmouth in my garage before I realized what it was. I shooed it out with a broom. Not everyone who may enter the nature park there will be as aware and as experienced as you are, children in particular. I was almost eaten by a Great White Shark off Manhattan Beach when I was in the 8th grade too as was my rattlesnake keeping friend while surfing. Just because we weren't eaten that day doesn't make those sharks any less dangerous and somebody else may have become lunch or dinner further down the coast that day. 'Poking stick'? Is that anything like poking a bear or a mean dog? LOL!
What's the problem? Just be nice, can't we all just get along.

I was under the (possibly false) impression that Texas to Texas factory to consumer sales were illegal. So if I'm purchasing from California, would it still be illegal to pick up my order in Texas?
Texas doesn't equate delivery point with point of sale. So in Texas, you can receive a Tesla, but you have to buy it out of state.

California charges you tax if you take delivery in state (for anyone) or out of state (for residents of California).

Every state does it different.

25 plaid S models were picked up during an event.
...in California.

I think it has more to do with what auto manufacturers are in who’s pocket for the Texas state legislature. Trucks are a big deal in Texas. Dealers don’t want you to buy a truck straight from the factory because that cuts out the profit for the dealer in their markups. So the auto manufacturers lobby the state legislature to keep them from letting Tesla sale directly to customers by keeping the law to benefit the dealer. It’s just all a dealer cult here. If you go against the cult then they will try and purge out the rotten piece. I’m sure Elon considered that when he chose to put his factory in Austin. He’s growing their economy and hopefully opening up a big chunk of the truck market. IMO

And I know it says no politics but I believe that is the root cause of this.

OK, back on topic lol:

Tesla's in-state sales in Texas will come down to the specific wording in the law, sometimes down to the presence of an Oxford comma. (I tried to find the relevant passages online, but reading legal texts caused a sharp stabby pain behind my right eye very quickly.)

No question that Tesla's sales transactions were deemed out-of-state when the vehicle was delivered from California, but will that remain true when only the paperwork is done across the border? If that works, then what is stopping a traditional dealership from using a shell company in North Dakota to process the "out-of-state transaction" and avoid paying 6% Texas sales tax?

Ha! That wasn't proof that Rattlesnakes WON'T bite, it was just proof that the Rattlesnake DIDN't bite one scared shittless unlucky guy! Be my guest! My query was for the benefit of the many children accompanying Texas wildlife-naive individuals who may enter "the sanctuary". You know, sort of akin to putting little ones in car seats in Teslas as well. That's all. Anyone who wants to stomp around in the brush barefoot and blindfolded listening to Tesla podcasts with their earbuds are welcome to do so.

It will take zip-lines to do the job. Now there's an idea, Elon! FSD ziplines to give rattlesnake resistant ecopark tours!

I know for a fact that I am safer :p in the woods than in some metropolitan areas.
Absolutely! I'm safer flying in an airplane than a car for long distance travel, unless I have to choose between a car crash and a plane crash. "Safer" is a relative term. I have escaped midair collisions and survived a high speed head-on collision. I recommend avoiding both.

Yes. I should mention/remind readers that Elon himself said that we would be able to pick up CTs at the factory, and he said that knowing what Texas laws are regarding sales.
