I agree that gender is waaaaaay more complex and there is more to it than just M/F. But we are talking about a truck and something being expressed about that truck by some unknown persons. If you would prefer some other body part to be attached before anyone thinks the truck is female that is fine. But in the absence of more complete data, when a child is born (these days it’s actually back at the ultrasound) the doctor assumes the gender of the child based on body parts. In my experience, the ultrasound technician will look for a small appendage to declare male and the absence of such appendage as female. This truck is basically still in a gestational period so all we have to go on is what we see.
It often isn’t till much later (certainly after birth but also after they start showing preferences for things, or making self identifying statements) that the child will start to express that an actual gender starts to show up.
