I don’t get it. My SC was completely fine selling me those parts. How does it serve Tesla interests not to? It’s bad PR to have people lose these on the freeway.
And if they are being assholes, there are third party shops who have ordering privileges and can order from the Tesla catalogue. They will gladly take your money I think.
I agree, but the issue the service center runs into is they typically can not sell parts to you that are not “for your VIN”. In my case they sold me everything except for the m8x12 bolts that go into the rivnuts… they said “these aren't the right ones for your vin, it wont let me add them” i said well technically none of this goes with my vin, she said “well it let us add the bracket but not the bolts” i said whatever and bought the bolts separately from a hardware store… its humans trained to use a system, not trained to think outside of the box of the system… some are more flexible than others.

Absolutely. My advice is if at first you don’t succeed, try another service center and if that doesn’t work , try a third party vendor.
It worked for me. They not only sold it to me but installed it on my car. So it is somehow possible for them to be rational human beings if they want to.

I think they’re already being rational human beings. It’s not for you if you didn’t buy a foundation series cyber beast. Even then Tesla’s taking a wrist by putting these on cars because they’re not legal in most places. They’re already going out on a limb. People around here love to lecture others about “entitlement” for folks who were just asking to get what they paid/bargained for… but, here you have an exclusive that people want (but didn’t pay the cost to get) and somehow Tesla is not being “rational” by not extending their liability further than Elon already pushed the limit on.

Hard disagree!

Maybe rational human beings wasn’t the right term. I retract my statement counselor.
They are capable of bending that rule when they want to is what I was trying to convey. Hard evidence is currently sitting on my car. Whether they were right or wrong to do that for me, someone who is regularly lectured on entitlement by every tom, dick and harry on this forum with a butthole and perhaps some without, is not something I presume to know or I would add care about.
I will leave that to you smart people and continue to drive around with my secure lightbar while you all discuss. 😁

They were similarly wrong to fully wire mine up when they installed it. The service guys generally like to be helpful, but here they are putting Tesla at risk.

I’m pissy about this but not at you Doc.

Welp, the OEM light bar is now available to all in the Tesla shop. I wonder if they will now sell the parts for DIY without all the run-around!

Yeah, not going to lie, slightly frustrating it shows up the week after I get it installed with one simple click purchase. I saved money doing it by getting the parts and having them install but not worth the hassle now IMO.

Well that solves the @dalton108 concern. I think? Glad they are finally taking advantage of the demand rather than creating a shady black market where people are selling damaged ones and only some service centers are agreeing to install them. Better late than never.

Boo…
Maybe try a different service center. The only reason I know it’s possible is that I bought some from them for a lightbar I already owned. I know that’s frustrating, but it’s the truth.

Yeah, you got very lucky it seems. Why don’t you go back and buy a set for me? 🤩
I have an appointment coming up. If you’re serious, I’m happy to ask. I’ll DM you me cellphone number so we can text about it if you’d like.
