I’m trying to figure out whether any recent Cybertruck deliveries are showing signs of the newer 4680 battery chemistry / dry-electrode pack that has been discussed over the last year.

Tesla has talked about producing 4680 cells in Austin with dry-electrode manufacturing for both the anode and cathode, and there have been reports that Cybertruck would eventually get the updated dry-cathode / newer 4680 cells. What I’m trying to determine is whether owners are actually seeing evidence of that in delivered trucks yet.

For anyone who recently took delivery, would you mind sharing:

  1. Delivery month/year
  2. Build month/year, if known
  3. Trim: AWD, Cyberbeast, or Long Range
  4. Approximate VIN range or last few digits only — please do not post your full VIN
  5. EPA/rated range shown at 100% after the truck has had time to balance
  6. Any battery pack part number, service screen info, or paperwork that appears to show a newer pack/cell revision
  7. Any noticeable charging curve, range, or efficiency difference compared with earlier Cybertrucks
  8. Whether Tesla service has told you anything about the pack version

I’m not trying to start a rumor thread. I’m just trying to collect owner-reported data to see if there is a pattern by build date or VIN range.

Poll question:
Do you believe your Cybertruck has the newer dry-electrode / updated 4680 battery pack?

  • Yes — I have documentation or service info showing it
  • Maybe — build date/VIN/range suggests it, but not confirmed
  • No — appears to be the earlier pack
  • Not sure — I’d like to know how to check
  • Following because I’m waiting to order/take delivery

1. June 11, 2026.
2. 05/2026.
3. Cyberbeast.
4. x988.
5. Will charge to 100% in a couple of days and then report back.
6. None that I can see.
7. No comparisons as this is my first Cybertruck.
8. I have an appointment with Tesla Service on June 25th and will ask them then.

Hope this helps.

Probably not, I'm sure if a new battery was installed it would of made headlines as a new selling point..

Grok:
In deliveries
“A June 10, 2026 delivery falls in the early-to-mid phase of the broader ramp. Some late-spring/early-summer builds may incorporate full-dry cells (especially if production lines were reallocated or yields improved), but widespread/standard use in Cybertrucks appears more likely in the second half of 2026 or later.”
Benefits to truck performance
“Comparable or Better Durability: Testing shows ~90% capacity retention after 2,000 cycles (roughly 600,000 miles equivalent in an EV), with no compromise in quality despite the cost savings.
No Major Immediate Range/Energy Density Boost: The dry process itself doesn’t automatically increase energy density or range (your truck’s cells are already at ~272 Wh/kg thanks to prior chemistry tweaks like higher-nickel cathodes and thinner housings). However, it enables thicker electrodes in the future, which could support higher density (long-term potential toward 300+ Wh/kg). Early full-dry packs focus more on cost than performance jumps. “

next big jump in overall performance will be in the 2027 4680 NC 30 version:

Gemini:
“By replacing the current baseline cell with the NC30, Tesla is directly addressing the two biggest real-world criticisms of the truck: towing range and cold-weather charging drop-offs.
The introduction of the NC30 brings several concrete benefits to the Cybertruck compared to the current NC20:

1. More Range Without More Weight (The Silicon Factor)

The NC20 cells powering today's Cybertruck use a traditional, pure graphite anode, which physically caps cell energy density at roughly 240–244 Wh/kg.
The NC30 Benefit: The NC30 mixes silicon-carbon into the anode. Because silicon can absorb drastically more lithium ions than graphite, the energy density jumps by double-digits.
Real-World Impact: Tesla can pack significantly more kilowatt-hours (kWh) into the exact same physical structural pack. This allows the truck's native range to push past its current limits and approach the mid-400-mile mark without making the truck heavier or sacrificing cabin space.

2. Faster Charging and Better Cold-Weather Performance
One of the hidden vulnerabilities of pure graphite anodes in large-format cells like the 4680 is that they struggle to move electrons quickly when it gets cold, which leads to slow charging curves.
The NC30 Benefit: Silicon-carbon allows lithium ions to move in and out of the anode matrix much faster.
Real-World Impact: The NC30 will improve the Cybertruck’s fast-charging speeds. More importantly, it helps mitigate the severe "charging slowdown" Cybertruck owners experience at chargers during winter weather.

3. Massively Improved Towing Capability
When a Cybertruck pulls a heavy load, it extracts continuous, high-amperage power from the battery pack, generating massive internal heat. Under the NC20, this rapid energy drain limits the truck's continuous power output capability.
The NC30 Benefit: The advanced chemistry of the NC30 handles high-power sustained discharge much more efficiently.
Real-World Impact: The truck will be much better equipped to handle heavy towing or sustained high-speed driving without the battery management system needing to throttle the vehicle's power to control internal temperatures.
4. Drastically Lower Production Costs (Pass-Through Savings)

The current NC20 was a stepping stone—it was a hybrid cell where Tesla dry-coated the anode but still relied on older, more expensive wet-slurry methods for the cathode.
The NC30 Benefit: The NC30 is built entirely on Tesla’s newly perfected 100% Fully Dry Electrode manufacturing line (both anode and cathode).
Real-World Impact: By eliminating massive, energy-expensive drying ovens and toxic solvents from the factory floor, Tesla projects a manufacturing cost reduction of over 30%. For the consumer, this lower cost per kWh gives Tesla the financial cushion to either drop the price of the truck or offer the higher-range battery upgrade at a much more reasonable price point.”

Cybertruck with 4680 NC 30 430-460 miles of range, could be within 12 months, 2027 or 2028 model year

will be amazing

Maybe this will further differentiate premium from SAWD. Maybe SAWD can return to full time $59,990, and get the gen 1 dry cell, and Premium will remain at the current price point but get the gen 2 NC30 cell, with more power and range.

That’s exactly the way I see it unfolding in future variants of the CT.

Premium trims will enjoy the NC30 battery cells. Peasant trims will continue to receive the current NC20 battery cells.
