Not sure what caused them but they were above left rear tire at delivery. They ended up buffing them out and its now not noticeable at all.

that's probably just surface impurities in the metal.

So that didn’t take long. I’ve owned the truck for about 60 days and an upstanding citizen let me know what he thinks of the truck…

I don't know what it was but it penetrated the stainless steel to scratch my truck... it doesn't rub off as easy as a like a finger print does ( that's funny ) the metal was damaged.

Video showing damage

That looks like a glass cutter that he’s using. What a wanker!

I'm from San Diego as well. What part of town did this happen in? Curious...

You can scratch stainless steel with… stainless steel. Give it a try with your kitchen utensils

The perpetrator is not dressed weirdly, he is dressed like a bike courier, hence the waterproof pants with the bicycle shorts over top

The tool he is holding looks like a bicycle multi tool. Those tools have hardened metal screw bits. It looks like he’s dragging the sharp corner of the hardened flat head screw bit from the multi tool across the Cybertruck

He did it because he’s jealous; class warfare. Also he’s probably stoned AF, based on his expression and the fanny pack for drugs / cash / his multi tool.

Be thankful that’s all he did. In Texas people carry guns in their fanny packs

Dude dressed like he plays trumpet in a ska band
Speaking as a trumpet player (not in a ska band), I must protest. He's dressed much better than that...

He’s probably a local bike rider. You have a clear image of his face and video proof that he did the damage. He’s likely done this multiple times. I would definitely take this to the local police departments with a damage estimate.

Rework
I rework SS every week.
My SS dish washer SS frig SS stove SS air-fryer small scuffs can be green scotchbrite pad grit hand buffed out with WD-40 (used green scotchbrite is preferred over using new stuff).
That is a SS scuff can be grain directional buffed out.
but
Scratch like keyed gouge can not be fixed to look as it was from Tesla factory.
Again
I rework SS every week with WD-40 and blue or used Green scotchbrite. I can get out stains and slight scuffs but not a scratch.

That guy has totaled those CT body panels and they must be replaced ($30,000)
There's a whole procedure for removing deep scratches from the SS in the Service Manual:

Exterior Stainless Steel Panel Refinishing (tesla.com)

They will not let him back on the street.
