The scratch is fixable, either they didn't know how, or didn't want to make the effort.
I don't know but that is what they told me. They said from experience it would not look right. Maybe one of the DeLorean guys can comment, though it's not the same recipe of stainless steel. @DMC-81
Maybe they just show it to the next guy that doesn't care, wants to wrap it anyway and wants the truck now.

Sure, it's easier for them to just let you reject it, and hope the next buyer won't notice/care.

The protective surface of stainless is a layer of oxidation. It will become "shinier" when abraded, which will dull somewhat as it oxidizes. So if you scrub 1 panel, it won't match the rest, at least not right away.

Further, it won't match if the grain is incorrect. The proper grit must be used, and in a similar pattern.

I've tried blending into adjacent panels on the DeLorean to make it less obvious, but I usually just open another beer and do the whole car.

Like you need to live steam the whole thing or it didn't happen? Someone got it all dirty, half cleaned it, put scratches on it, then they drove it on the lot and took pics just to pull one over on you?
Lol, who knows, $TSLAQ is relentless.

This just seems off the wall bad in comparison to every other CT delivery so far, probably the worst delivery I've ever seen for any vehicle in history.

Even the laziest assholes would pretend to hose off the debris at least. Never in my life have I seen or heard of a new vehicle delivery like this, let alone such a new and exclusive vehicle where most service centers are only getting a handful at a time. That’s why some of us are struggling to wrap our head around it.

I ended up going today but I passed on it. There were several light scratches and then one deeper scratch on the right rear panel. They said they can't fix those. They have to sand it down and then you can always see where they sanded it down.

There were marks on the driver door panel where the suction cups may have been and it looks like maybe they tried to clean them. They didn't look like the clear outlines of suction cups like I've seen in some pictures, just big dark areas.

There were some alignment issues with the metal trim that goes above both doors and there was also water inside the storage compartment in the bed and in the outlet inside the bed, both have rubber seals. Someone got too aggressive with the power washer maybe.

On the right side of the front trunk, there was also a larger gap when you can see the rubber underneath. The left side looked good but if you moved it to make the right look good then the left side would be off. I tried to see if it had the little adjustable rubber feet that I've seen on other trunk lids but they looked fixed.

They were without power by the time I got there but they said they washed the truck but it had all sorts of debris from trees all over the truck and I couldn't even really tell what other marks it may have had other than the few I found. Very disappointing. There was mud underneath and there was also rust coming out of where the hubcap or the center cap would go. I'm sure that's from the brake pads but it looks pretty bad. That's how they want to deliver it to me.

Not sure how folks are going to deal with this ongoing but a good amount of the debris was in between the metal and the top and back of the truck from beginning to end. I wouldn't recommend parking it under anything that has small leaves or debris of any kind.

I'm not sure if they left the window open or something, they did wipe down most of it but in the cup holders behind the headrests in the back side panels inside, there's a nice layer of dirt/dust.

Can’t believe this happened to you. I’m expecting to pick mine up from Colma this week.

I'm sure you will have better weather, they should have power and you look to be way closer that I am. Just be sure to check everything and bring someone that can help look for stuff, because they don't seem to.

On DeLoreans, you need a special flapper wheel brush ( called a wolf wheel) with the right grit sandpaper to properly re-grain a panel or the whole car to factory spec. The panels on this car are relatively soft, so you can fix a scratch by using the right 80 grit Scotch-brite pad and some finesse to blend the re-grained panel with the rest of the car. If you don’t do it right or use the wrong grit, you can see the repair attempt.

On the hardened stainless steel Cybertruck, I understand they use a random orbital tool with an unknown grit at the factory. So, if the delivery center doesn’t have the proper tools and/or training, it won’t look right, especially if it is a deep scratch. Thus I agree with them.

Got a call from Tesla Fresno today and the truck is almost there. They wanted to stay in touch and most likely will take delivery this weekend. It is getting close!

Still waiting here with 141x. I reached out to them earlier this week and they said "it's still in transit, and they will reach out when they have any info".

I would literally pay full price right now if they would add it to my Tesla account and let me watch it chug across the country. Yes I know that would probably make me even more impatient when I see it sit for 2+ days at some transit transfer location, but it would be some actual info!!!

Maybe I should’ve been more descriptive. Social media. I’d hit up anyone and everyone from Omar to Sawyer to Fred to Franz to Elon. Like I said, not a social media guy, but I’m confident if you message enough people that are closer to the inner circle, the bigger response you will get.

Now that being said, I’m not sure I buy this is how the car was presented, but crazier things have happened.
Sawyer has no influence with tesla. he runs a clothing business.
