I've only heard of assigned VINs, not deliveries
(But I may be out of the loop)
Same, I'm far from up to date regarding if any '25's are delivered. I thought I recalled a single post somewhere that someone received a '25 (S Vin), but I could be wrong. I told that to the rep when I asked. I explained it as I had heard that at least 1 person received a '25. That's when he told me they don't have any 25's.

i called my local tesla center this morning. lady seemed to have no idea about the new eligibility as she just kept repeating what the website says about commercial vehicles.

i have a reservation now that is a 2024 model (according to the VIN), I don't think i can get away with filing it on my taxes next year for 2025, i think they check your VIN when you file. been awhile since i filed for the tax credit in 2020.
Your comment implies that you think the $7500 tax credit gets taken off your taxes like they used to. That is no longer the case. Now the $7500 is applied during the sale process. So it lowers the price of the vehicle by $7500. Way better deal. It does seem like there will be a wait time until this happens. Last year in January I wanted to buy a Model Y when it changed to taken directly off the price of the vehicle. Even though it was being written that it was going to happen on January 1st. That didn't happen. When talking with Tesla reps. I was told it was a paperwork issue and that it would be awhile until it was resolved. I waited, and January 12th it changed to point of sale. At that time, I was able to purchase new 0 miles 2023 Model Y LR from Inventory for the listed price of $44,090, which after the incentive, and all fees, worked out to under $43K out the door price. So if you can practice some patience, it will probably pay off very well.

it seems like you can file it on your taxes, according to the fuel economy website.

If the vehicle qualifies for a credit, you have two options:
  1. You can claim the credit on your tax return for the year in which it was placed in service using Form 8936.
  2. You can transfer the credit to the dealer so that they can apply the credit amount to your final purchase cost. This essentially allows you to receive the benefit of the credit at the time of sale. The dealer will be reimbursed by IRS. See Clean Vehicle Credit Transfer: Information you need to provide to the registered dealer.
i will wait until they work something out on their website, but i think the cybertruck will be tricky if what people are saying about the components making it eligible for the tax credit. i don't really care if i have a 24 or 25 year vin.

I was told the best option is to check the website. There will not be a POS Point of Sale adjustment that would be available prior to updating the website.

If the website is updated to reflect the EV credit (for non business or lease), 25's are available, and you pay the $250 deposit, if federal policy or EV credit eliminated between the time you order and the date of pickup then you would forfeit the $250 if you cancel.
i hope that's not totally the case. placing an "order" shouldn't affect the eligibility of the vehicle and final purchase agreement because you have an order in place before they finalize the paperwork.

I can't imagine any benefit to waiting over a year to file taxes. When I bought the MY, I paid cash. So my sales tax fee, and registration, was based on the $7500 lower price for the vehicle. I've heard a lot of people use the $7500 as part of a down payment. Also, some people with lower incomes and less of a tax burden, don't have a tax bill of over $7500. So when that's the case, they only get to write off what their tax burden is for that year.

I you know you'll be under the income limit in 2025 or were under in 2024, take it at point of sale. There is no clawback if your total tax for the year is less than $7,500. If you wait to get it when you file then it resumes behaving as a non-refundable credit. Only had $6k in tax liability? Only get $6k credit. Whereas with point of sale it would be the full $7,500.

Only 2025 VIN Cybertrucks qualify. A 2024 does not, even if delivered in 2025.

ASIDE related to non-Point of Sale:
Also, some people with lower incomes and less of a tax burden, don't have a tax bill of over $7500. So when that's the case, they only get to write off what their tax burden is for that year.
ASIDE: I've heard of this technique in the past. Wording by a LLM.
A Roth IRA conversion involves moving funds from a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA, which adds the converted amount to your gross income for the year and could increase your tax liability. This might help you take advantage of the EV tax credit if you're close to the threshold, but it's not a direct solution for generating additional tax liability.

Sales tax should not have been impacted by the point of sale credit. It doesn't change the purchase price.

Time of sale credit can exceed you tax liability without clawback (you get full credit even if you have zero income)

That's wrong. The tax is based on the price paid after the credit is deducted. The credit isn't paid, so it isn't taxed. I've done it.

Stand your ground! Don't be pressured by Tesla to take delivery.

I would hold off for the point of sale $7500 incentive on a 2025 "S" VIN.

Not only that. But, once the word gets out. why would anyone want to pay $78,990 for a 24 model in January of 2025, when they can get a 25 model for $71,490 (prices based on $1K off referral) . I would think Tesla is going to come up with reduced pricing for 2024 models to avoid problems clearing out 2024 Inventory.

i thought about that, too. they’re going to need to think of a way to push their inventory. their sales advisors that i have talked to so far seem to be clueless of the tax incentive at the moment.

i will try to. they included “risk cancellation” but thats BS if they try that.

Some may have gotten lucky with it, looks like this one person did: https://www.torquenews.com/11826/te...ruck-new-owners-say-its-much-quieter-smoother

Anyways, I was supposed to pick up a discounted demo foundation with free supercharging tomorrow but canceled (put order on hold) since the IRS Qualification that came out yesterday. I have the itch but willing to wait and save some coin.
