Acceleration boost??? When my wife first rode with me, I demonstrated the acceleration of the FS and I thought she was gonna yack all over the dash. She made me promise to never do that again.

Hilarious. When I first bought my M3, I took my wife on the test drive and floored it from a stop. She said the exact same words, “Never do that again!” ?

Does anyone think that Tesla will offer acceleration boost at some point for the AWD CT? If so, what 0-60 time would you project it to have?
I think it's fairly likely since according to MotorTrend they already seem to have power in reserve:

"We easily bested that time with a 3.8-second run to 60 mph before crossing the quarter mile line in 12.4 seconds at 110.3 mph, just a touch below the Cybertruck Dual Motor's claimed top speed of 112 mph (we actually reached 114 mph in our testing)."

It’s all marketing that Cyberbeast has 845 hp to Rivians 835hp or Hummer EV’s 830hp (absent the 24 module pack). I would be surprised if both the AWD and Beast are producing above their rated HP figures a la Porsche.

The Rivian Gen 2 quad won’t exist until next year, and that’s only if Rivian can afford to float the production expense while trying to get R2 out. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Gen 2 quad goes the way of the Plaid+, just too small a market.

Now the Rivian dual motor has a downloadable performance upgrade, a model they borrowed from Tesla. I could see Tesla unleashing a bit more on the AWD and then launching more of a Plaid-like Cyberbeast with carbon-sleeved rotors that can push 1,100+ HP. I also think this new powertrain (Plaid Gen 2) will power the impending S/X refresh, likely in mid/late 2025 or early 2026 depending on Tesla resource allocation towards the mythical $25k vehicle and getting Roadster finally out.

Implications on CT: I don’t think we see the single motor until 2026 at the earliest and it probably goes the way of the $60k Corvette = starting at $70+k.

Our 2023 model X is the AWD 2 motor (not plaid) It has Insane Mode which feels much faster than the CT. It also has launch instructions and will condition the battery for launch. The CT doesn't have that. Just "Standard" mode. So, I agree with OP and hope TSLA has some update that will unlock some more power.
I think they will, I just got smoked in my AWD by a dual motor R1T, they need to add Insane mode.. like my 2022 Model X AWD LR has

It’s going to happen. Considering Tesla is doing everything they can to nickel and dime cybertruck owners, why not an OTA update for $2k?

All those accessories that are “out of stock” should have been included in the Foundation Series irregardless if you qualify for the PowerShare. If there is power to be squeezed out without compromising the drivetrain resulting in warranty issues it will happen.

Just look at what what Tesla offered earlier this month for the Model Y RWD. “Energy Boost” to increase range 30-50mi.

30mi range boost $1,000
50mi range boost $1,500

I’d do $2000 for 4.1 sec reduced to 3.5 sec
Beast is 2.6 sec
Does not confuse with Beast

The X is faster than the CT. There is no Acceleration boost on the Model X. It's just a lighter vehicle with more horsepower.
Faster yes, but not quicker. Insane mode 0-60 is significantly slower than Beast (3.5s), Ludicrous plus mode (Ludicrous w/ preconditioning) is right at the Beast 0-60 (2.6-2.7s).

Plaid X is 2.5 seconds with 2.3 being the best recorded. You're looking at old data.

I didn't realize this was a necro'd thread or I wouldn't have responded.

That aside, I said Insane and Ludicrous, not Plaid. The poster you responded to said they had Insane mode, specifically not Plaid. My 2016 Model X Ludicrous was quicker than my AWD CT, but the best 0-60 I ever got was 2.7s.

I did it on our AWD Model Y and it was noticeably quicker.

I’d drop the $2K to get a similar boost on my AWD Cybertruck in a heartbeat!
