Somehow my tailgate opened overnight with the garage door closed. When I opened the door remotely I heard a racket and the door rear panel on one side hit it while opening.

Has anyone replaced one or either piece before (looks like the top and the plastic that goes across the entire rear, one looks like it pops on and the other looks like it might be accessible for removal once the top is popped off??

Personally, i would not replace the entire rear lamp assy, as that would be very expensive for a scuff… a body shop might be able to buff it out and polish it for you if it really bothers you.
regarding the tailgate top cover, sure replace it if it bothers you, easy enough, its barely held on there anyway… some companies make a stainless steel option. durability at the expense of added weight. Then there are protective stickers like the ones tesla sells or others sell on here.

Unfortunately that top applique is single use and the fasteners on one side are snapped off.

I did try to buff that plastic but to no avail

The top appliqué part is under $100 and an easy DIY replacement. You can order the part via the service request app and pick it up at your local service center.

As others said, the rear light replacement is more involved.

I believe the tailgate appliqué has been updated. The tail light blemish should buff out with plastic scratch remover.

That top plastic appliqué can be popped off with your fingers, its held in by a few clips... I'd try some very fine polish on the tail light before replacing that one.

I searched all over the parts catalog looking for the top piece, can’t seem to find it, what category is it under? 10-body? 11-closure components ?

Can’t pop it off without damaging it, manual says to replace it if removed.

Yes you can, I've done it when they replaced my tailgate because it wasn't sitting flush.. There are those white plastic clips under there that are replaceable, you just have to take It off carefully.
