Has anyone done DIY wrap on their Cybertruck? My local shop is asking for $4500 and 7 days to complete. Looking at the truck it’s got at most 12 panels and all flat not sure why they need 7 days in their shop. Did some search online and already at least 3 sites offering DIY Kit. Just wondering if anyone has done it and the degree of difficulty.

7 days is on the long end. But they need to do a full detail, dry, dismantle and reassemble, and resting time for lift ups.

That's about what you'd expect from a 4500 color change wrap.

Plus they're probably busy.

I'll do it myself if it comes to that. I did clear PPF on the front of my Model Y. The only section that was challenging was wrapping the nose because of the compound contours, sensors, etc. The CT's flat panels will be easy to clear wrap. Color wrap will be more challenging because you have to wrap around door edges, etc. which requires applying a bit of heat. If you're not reasonably handy, though, I would advise having it done by a shop.

$4500 seems reasonable compared to my area. Here they are asking $7000. I am considering the DIY wrap too. Doesn't look to difficult

I agree with @Cybergirl. I’m not reasonably handy and will have it done by a shop. ? I know my limitations and am perfectly happy not fu**ing up a $1300 wrap on a 100K truck ?.

You should clarify whether that's vinyl or PPF as well. Because PPF is a wet install and you have to have the proper stretch and heating. If you diy that is likely only going to last a year or so.

Will be wrapping it myself, no need to pay an inflated price for some random schmuck doing it.

Put camo. Bubbles, folds and trapped debris, except a dead cat, won't be noticeable..
Depends!

If you ran him over with the CT, he’s probably flat enough to be unnoticed.

I'm not an expert, but I saw a guy that does wraps online, say it was cake, because of the panels. Since they aren't rolled, you don't have to worry as much about edges. I say, DIY and have some fun, even if you mess up, you will have that satisfaction of saying you did it yourself.

I keep going back and forth. Love the idea of trying and the challenge. Dry vinyl seems easier than PPF and some say the vinyl has less issue with it not sticking just right that they had to work thought with ppf. The diy kit are appealing with less cutting just right.
