That actually seems like a deal compared to what I was just quoted from an installer today. My electrical panel is in my basement but it is right next to the garage. About 10 feet to where the charger would be mounted in the garage.
The outside service is also right next to the garage so again very short distance.

The installer is the only Tesla certified in Nebraska and I was quoted
  • $1140 for just the Wall connector EV charger install
  • $4740 for the Gateway and EV charger install
The tech who gave me the quote said he has about 8 others to quote and recommended I get it scheduled sooner than later (might just be a sales tactic).

I have an AWD order (no vin assigned yet) and am struggling to justify the $4740 for the Gateway and whole home... versus just going w/ the EV charger.

Anybody have any thoughts on if having this equipment helps much in home resale value ?

Well, the installation for the charger took maybe 10 min because previous home owner already had a Tesla Wall charger. Previous home owner took the charger but left the wiring and the extra breaker in panel box etc, so all installation had to do is connect the new charger.

$800 for 10 minutes of work...I probably could have bought the charger and install the thing by myself and save $100.

Glad to see they can do the partial install. Located In Central WA. Quotes around here for just getting the NEMA 1450 w/the 60A GFCI breaker wired have been around $750 by local electricians

I’m currently working on getting multiple quotes, the first that came through from the electrician that Tesla gave my contact information to came in at $5200, and that was installation right next to the circuit panel (no long cable runs).

I plan to have my PowerShare installed after delivery, I want to make sure the truck will fit in our garage, otherwise I’ll go with exterior install.

I don’t think I would install for any potential resale value. Hardware can become outdated and currently i believe the CT is the only vehicle that is compatible with a PowerShare.

Do you lose power in your area very often? We get fairly high winds in the winter from time to time and have been without power for 3-4 times a couple of times the last 11 years, so PowerShare is something I’ve been looking forward to ever since seeing Nissan create a similar system for the LEAF many years ago, but apparently only in Japan.

This is the message I got just now, seems like both pressure tactic and veiled threat, now or no?

I don't have a VIN number yet and I'm very concerned that the insurance is going to be stupid expensive and may keep me from going forward with the purchase. I live in Las Vegas and recently got a quote from Liberty mutual for $900 a month for a $50,000 Jeep. I ain't sure the same Jeep for about $330 through progressive. But nobody has given me a cybertruck quote without a VIN number.

Curtis P. from Car Charging Pros:

Hi Scott. Tesla needs to know if they are sending us your PowerShare equipment or not. If so, we need to collect the permit fee of $300 as the deposit so we can get that started. If not, we need to inform tesla that you are declining it. Please let me know either way. Thanks, Curtis

Not a threat or pressure tactic.

They need to know you're committed to the install.
