All my backing experience seems to be for naught when I try to back trailers with my CT.

Anyone have any tips for managing backing when all 4 wheels pivot.

Even the guy helping me back, who has a lot more backing experience than me, is stumped.

Tnx,

The 4WS effectively shortens the wheelbase of your truck. Smaller inputs are needed than what you are used to. I am getting used to it and think that it is better. You can go into the offroad menu and disable the 4WS if you find that to your liking.

Avoid sharp turns. The bumper will hit the trailer quickly.

You need 25% more space to line up than without rear steer.

Pull trailer and truck straight in line with target before backing into a slot. Normal adjustment on way in do not work.

If you cannot pull straight line, you need space to exaggerate the approach and correct back before lock in.

Plan the trailer path and be willing to unhitch with tow vehicle at an angle and trailer aligned to slot.

Use mirrors to watch the rear tires as you steer.

We need an option to turn rear steer off when towing under 10 mph. All of the above makes ut way more difficult than necessary.

I tow a single and dual axle trailers and have a challenging parking arrangement.

Interesting to hear these trailer backing comments. I've been backing trailers for 61 years, many kinds of trailers and many kinds of tow vehicles, and my CT is the easiest in which to back a trailer. Especially a short trailer. As my dad taught me those many years ago, I hold the bottom of the "wheel" and move my hand in the direction I want the back of the trailer to move.
