If it's a bit of oxidation, then making a thick paste with baking soda and rubbing the area with a microfiber cloth might help. It might be possible to remove it without changing the pattern in the stainless steel much.

I can confirm this works. I had a bird poop stain for months before I did it, just use a little elbow grease and it will be gone easy.

NOTE: The area you clean with BKF will be a different color than the rest of the panel. It removes the top oxidized layer so it looks ever so slightly blue when the rest of the panel will look ever so slightly yellow. The difference is subtle but noticeable if you look closely.

You just need to wait for that to resolve. 2 months later I still see a difference on mine, but they are almost matched up. The other option is using BKF on the whole truck, and that is a lot of work.

Anyone got suggestions for what to use to get this off? Used glass cleaner, stainless steel cleaner, soap and water. This was what was left after a bird took a huge shit on my truck. Looks worse in person.

In the Cybertruck manual, a product avail via Amazon called CITISURF 77 is recommended for removing stains from our CTs. It works via mild chemical reaction rather than with abrasives. I used it on my frunk top on seagull $hit stains ... and it works easily and quickly. Only downside ... you MAY have to apply a very light coat to the whole panel surface you are treating because ....

The Cirtisurf 77 will not only remove the bird $hit etching ... but will also remove the petina our whole SS panel has gotten over the months. If the stain is on one of the panels on one side of the vehicle ... your eye may well cause you to do the whole side of the CT to make sure everything looks right.

I am hoping that in the future, we will find a stainless steel ceramic coating that can REALLY withstand a bad dose of BIG seagull $hit ... and that such a ceramic coating will not allow a penetration to the SS surface. If anybody knows of a ceramic coating that is guaranteed to work on bird $hit micro etching stains ..... PLEASE POST !

An before you bring it up ... no ...I do not want to do Protectaclear. I have the stuff ... and there are videos on Youtube that show how difficult it can be for professionals to apply the stuff defect free. Even a rep from the company had to take her word off and apply again. Protectacoat is NOT a ceramic coating ... it is a clear, plastic like coat for bare metal. Here is the Amazon link to CitriSurf 77. Look it up in our CT Service Manual.

For me, Windex has worked for bird $hit. My logic was since poop is acidic and Windex is basic pH= 11 ish, it would work and it has so far.

Mech engg, not a chemist, but it’s been working so far. I do not let it sit and wipe it asap. Bar Keeper’s is harsher and I try to avoid it.

There are days, I’d want to see the bird on a frying pan with some ginger, garlic and soya sause.

Actually, it only took me less than an hour to BKF and Windex the whole truck. It might not have been a ā€˜pro’ job but it looked great. That was months ago so I should probably do it again, maybe this weekend.
