I've seen discussion relative to waterproofing the truck bed, but I can't find something similar to what we've experienced, but maybe my search foo isn't strong enough. [edit: as soon as I posted this, I see several about this, so apologies for the spam] Anyone had this happen? I find it hard to believe (a) the answer is replace the whole window and (b) that this isn't some kind of warranty issue. I've done nothing to the window or seal to cause this.

The bottom seal on our rear window separated slightly from the window (picture), and when closing then opening the tonneau, it was completely pulled off by the tonneau and dragged into the void where the tonneau disappears. Now Tesla wants to charge me to replace the window (quote attached).

I’ve had this happen twice with Fishing rods flying forward into that area while driving and once I opened the tonneau, the rods will yank the seal off

Tesla always produces cost estimates for work, even when covered by warranty. This should be covered as a manufacturing defect.

Cybergus is correct, but if they are adamant that you’ll be charged for the work, would be a good time to decide if you want the Breezer Rear window installed instead…

Mine came off, too. I pointed out to Tesla when my tonneau cover was replaced. Is it really needed?

I had not heard of the Breezer, thanks for pointing that out. I might consider it if this happens again.

For those following along, indeed it was covered under warranty *however* I had to ask to get the charges removed from the bill when I went to pick the car up. By default, the app was asking for the payment so I could drive the car away. The service clerk indicated that the technician was supposed to have removed the charge after the repair, but probably just forgot ("you know those techs, they just want to do the mechanical part, not the data entry part"). He said the reason they force the quote up front is because they never know till they get in there why something happened, so in the event it was in fact, say rats chewing on something, then they can be paid for their time, etc.
