Brake Malfunction; hit light pole

I have received back from tesla on their diagnostic, that the vehicle was operating properly at the time of the accident... I still havent received the logs myself.

I originally stated it as a brake malfunction, the more i explain the situation and with the recent stuck accelerator recall, if the accelerator was stuck could explain why the regen was delayed... still waiting for tesla on all ends. slow slow slow

finally got my estimate after 17 days.

If it was the result of the cover slipping and getting stuck on the firewall I doubt it would have unstuck itself and reattached, the cover would have to come off completely to release the pedal. The vehicle would have tried to accelerate again once you let off the brake if the pedal remained stuck.

Reduced regen is "normal" operation if the pack is cold enough and/or high SOC so that may qualify as "operating properly" in their eyes.

That sounds like wishful thinking!

You claimed you pressed the brake and it the braking action was delayed. However, when a Tesla gets a braking command, while the accelerator is depressed, it instantly cancels the request for power.

And, as pointed out previously, if the accelerator was stuck due to the cover coming off, the cover would still be off. So nice try, but that's not what happened.

It looks like you were just going faster than you expected, and the corner had less traction than you expected. Happens all the time. You ran wide. The corner was sharp. It won't brake if the available traction is already used up by cornering forces.

Some details:

In surveillance footage, the impractical pickup darted up a hill into a neighbor’s house with the rear wheels completely locked up. The owner stated that the throttle and steering were unresponsive as he held the brake pedal to the floor, putting down a pair of 50-foot-long skid marks.
You can hear the skidding in the video, unfortunately it's too far away to see much.

That video doesn’t show “unexpected acceleration”. He claims the rears locked up but front axle kept accelerating, which the video definitely does not reflect. If his rear axle was locked up with “50’ skid marks” the truck wouldve looped it around that corner (because stability systems wouldn’t be able to overcome a skidding rear axle in a hard corner), and there is zero tire squeal before he enters that corner over the hill, so he wasn’t fighting some runaway truck before the corner cresting the hill. He also claims “steering unresponsive” and yet the truck clearly acts around the corner at the limits of his grip. More likely he was trying to steer his way around the upcoming house but had already exceeded max grip with full lock, brakes, and regen all applying force to the t

To me it shows a new owner ripping up a driveway in an unfamiliar and very powerful heavy vehicle, above his skill level, coming around a cresting corner hot at the limit of cornering grip, and realizing “oh f*ck” and braking too late to avoid the deck stairs.

Im glad he posted the security footage, thinking he was adding pressure on Tesla, because prior to seeing this footage I would’ve given him benefit of the doubt (*maybe* throttle pedal recall?). But no, the video shows me clearly the guy is full of shit. He is trying to get Tesla to pay for his f*ckup, pure and simple, and he’s spreading FUD on Twitter, it’s metastasized to Jalopnik, etc. Now I’m seeing sympathy in various threads here in these forums and we should stop giving him benefit of the doubt and helping spread his BS.
FWIW, the OP on this thread was much more humble with his pole scenario, presented his entire case, asked for data, acknowledged he may have made a mistake but seemed genuinely perplexed. His post was worthy of empathy and benefit of doubt.
This “rears locked no steering” guy needs to suck it up and acknowledge his mistake.
