We know a Cyertruck crashed into a pole. I think if there was a shred of evidence the brakes had failed people wouldn't be as skeptical. But we have nothing, other than the person who crashed saying the regen braking wasn't acting normally and when he pressed the hydraulic brakes there was a delay in braking action.

You know what is consistent with that report? Remember, this is a Cyberbeast, able to change velocity in the blink of an eye. It's consistent with entering the corner at too high of a speed, the corner being sharper than expected, the tire pressure being below 50 psi cold, ad the anti-lock braking not letting the brakes apply because the speed and sharpness of the turn were already overwhelming the available traction in the intersection.

Intersections are already low traction surfaces with oil and coolant contamination common. Entering a corner like that at 60 mph is going to overwhelm the available traction and ABS systems are programmed to not allow brake application if regen has already been limited due to lack of traction. Remember, you can corner hard, you can brake hard, but you cannot do both at the same time. The likely error here was rapidly building too much speed, or maintaining too high of a speed, into the corner entry.

In other words, a simple over-estimation of the available traction and an under-estimation of how fast he was going (probably due to the quickness with which Cyberbeast can add speed with just a short application of throttle). Without more information, this is the most likely scenario that explains all available information (and takes the OP's story at face value). I say this because the OP was strangely silent on a critical fact, the speed of the vehicle at the entry to the turn. My impression is that the brakes were not applied until the turn entry, the slickest part of the intersection, especially if the entry into the left turn lane was late.

I have a Model 3 Performance with a 0-60 of just over three seconds and I know a short stab of the accelerator adds a lot of speed pronto. A quick one-second stab of the throttle, when already going 35 or 40 mph, can get you into trouble really quickly if you don't understand this. And the Cyberbeast adds speed even more quickly than the Model 3 Performance.

To add to this the CT Cyberbeast also weighs nearly 7,000 lbs with occupants.

So now imagine something that has the speed of a Lambo but weighs as much as a Ford F250 and it becomes increasingly apparent of why people are so skeptical of the OPs claim of brake failure being the reason for his unusual accident.

The USB just records the 4 camera video, not the log data you requested from Tesla. From what I've read elsewhere, I'll be surprised if Tesla provides you with the log data, unless it points the fault at you rather than the truck.

I'm sorry that this happened to you. I have two Ys and one X, and all three of them have done ghost-breaking and weird acceleration. My 21 Y was very dangerous back when FSD allowed autopilot at 90. I was approaching to go under a bridge on I-10, and I believed that the car thought the shade of the bridge was going to be the impact. It stopped so hard that my friend and I were projected to the front, and the seatbelts got very tight. luckily no cars behind.

Guys I had my Truck for less than 350 miles. something happened i cant explain... I was driving like usual and when coming into a turn releasing the accelerator but the speed wasnt reducing... so i pressed the brake... but it didnt engage.... until it was too late and i hit a signal light pole, also airbags didnt deploy.

Regen was working but it was limited it was different than before ( I’m doing a bad job of explaining), hence the application of brakes which also had a delayed feeling. I’m glad to be uninjured ?

Yea they have a team looking into it right now.

I find out what their diagnostics and review of the issue is.


Letting go of accelerator I can feel the limited regen , pressing brake it didn’t feel like it was catching until too late. Again I can only explain the laceration I don’t know what happened

Yeah, @Edjcyberbeast how is the damage on the left front bumper and the pole is to your right? I would expect to see damage on the right passenger bumper.

Ok everyone, let's put the pitchforks away already. And I get it - in fact I was the first one to yell "sus!" But the OP has already backed away from the claim this was 100% a major failure of the truck, see below. And let's be honest here, especially with insurance potentially claiming reckless driving or something, I would probably have a very selective and even biased memory, I'm sure.

So really it's a CT accident, cause under investigation (and probably irrelevant and unknowable), and repair process/ timeline/ cost that's of interest to us all. The repair story is what I'm looking to hear more about.

My intention is not to blow this up into anything, there could be nothing wrong with the system. I’m only relaying what I experienced and how I acted in the moment of the situation. Lightbulb memory. The logs will tell us what’s up , I’m also curious and still waiting for logs.
