This appears to satisfy a legal requirement for notification.First off, that's a horrible name for a car part!
when I first read the name, I thought it was something like chemtrails that fall from the sky.
I received the recall notice for the cant rail today. The date on the letter is May 19, but I got it on May 28
informing me of the recall, but also telling me they don't have the parts yet, so I must wait for them to notify me.
That doesn't surprise me. What I am surprised about is that this is the first time Tesla has mailed me any information via postage.
and I've had my truck since Sep. 15, 2024
No offers, no marketing, or any other important information like other recalls.
Is this normal for Tesla?
'Cant spell' or 'cantspell'?????Did anyone else notice they spell it “cant rail” at first then call it a “cantrail”.
Stellar proofreading team Tesla has.
I would wrap it to match...that's just me.They replaced mine already- I had a service appointment to install my light bar and a few other things. I told them the drivers side Cant Rail looked like it was misaligned and coming loose. They said it wasn't recalled yet ...but they went ahead and replaced them...I had the truck wrapped 8 months ago and now its two toned..What do you all think? Leave it or re-wrap?

Yes, mandated by NHTSA.I received the letter also but my cant rails appear to be in good shape. They are aligned nicely and would hate to see them come back mis-aligned. Wonder if its a must do.
Technically, mandated by federal law 60 days after initiation .Yes, mandated by NHTSA.
(a) The notification required by § 577.5 shall—
(1) Be furnished no later than 60 days from the date the manufacturer files its defect or noncompliance information report under part 573. In the event that the remedy for the defect or noncompliance is not available at the time of notification, the manufacturer shall issue a second notification within a reasonable time and in accordance with the requirements of this part once that remedy is available. The Administrator may order a manufacturer to send the notification to owners on a specific date where the Administrator finds, after consideration of available information and the views of the manufacturer, that such notification is in the public interest. The factors that the Administrator may consider include, but are not limited to, the severity of the safety risk; the likelihood of occurrence of the defect or noncompliance; whether there is something that an owner can do to reduce either the likelihood of occurrence of the defect or noncompliance or the severity of the consequences; whether there will be a delay in the availability of the remedy from the manufacturer; and the anticipated length of any such delay.
Book time is just under an hour to do both sides individually, but there may be some efficiency gains doing both.I want to know how long it takes to do this as I will have to drive 2+ hours to a service center and waiting for it to be done.
I was at SC early this morning and asked about how long it would take; first product is not available and it’s the “wait for the email” routine. The SC associate told me is was an all day job. Maybe for adhesive to cure?Book time is just under an hour to do both sides individually, but there may be some efficiency gains doing both.

How did the end result look? Cant rails flush and lined up?I just scheduled the repair in my app. They attempted to do it via mobile service and the tech couldn't get the rail to line up properly, so he put the original back on and we rescheduled with the service center.
It took 2 1/2 hours to complete. Honestly, I think it actually only took 2 because I watched them drive my truck around to the parking lot and it sat for 30 minutes before the app told me it was ready.
It is optional if you cancel the appointment or don’t do it. But Tesla will not cancel the appointment, and I’d imagine if you brought it in for service for another item, they’d have to do the recall if they have the parts. How do I know? I basically had this convo with my service advisor last week.So is it optional? If I take my car in for repair at the SC they won’t just do it?
There shouldn't be any adhesive involved. They would be using new parts with welded on studs.I was at SC early this morning and asked about how long it would take; first product is not available and it’s the “wait for the email” routine. There is still adhesive or butyl patches involved. There shouldn't be any adhesive involved. They would be using new parts with welded on studs.
Sure, buytl patches over the extra holes in the body if needed, but those are pressure activated and have zero cure time. There is still adhesive or butyl patches involved.
