Hi guys, I am experiencing and have also read lots of other outside this forum threads related to a high pitch annoying almost gear whine at higher speeds. It's not the cool low speed UFO sounds, it sounds like in the old days a bad bearing in a rear differential. one guy who had this problem over on Reddit, said that Tesla was replacing his motor assembly due to this noise. Anyone else here have this issue? It makes it downright uncomfortable to drive, and in contrast my Lightning has the cool low speed UFO sounds but once up to speed is whisper quiet. Looking for your feedback, or to compile all of us who have this issue. Not sure if it's isolated to the Beast or affects AWD as well.

I have it also on my Beast. It started around 1200 miles and now I have double the mileage and getting louder and more vibration. It’s a whine sound and as stated before, feels like a bearing. I notice it about 75 and gets worse at 80. My wife can also feel and hear it. It will be tricky for service to acknowledge it because they are restricted to 75 mph max speed. It definitely doesn’t feel like a tire issue. As I am having the recall done next week, I put this in the work order so we will see what they say.

Has anyone gotten anywhere on this? I just got my truck back, and they say "nothing abnormal", which is BS, not only that, they were supposed to remove waterspots that were all over the truck when it was delivered, and it came back all scratched up like they took sandpaper and sanded the body, the body panels they did this on look horrible, and it is really bad in the sun I complained, but they shrugged their shoulders. This truck only has 200 miles on it, and now it's ruined, not to mention the noise is driving me crazy.

I have the same on my beast. Pretty sure it’s not tires because if you carefully feather the accelerator in a way that you’re neither accelerating nor regenerating the sound goes away. I have a service appointment coming up in early August and this is one of the items on the list

Definitely NOT tire noise, it's a gearbox engineering fail, it sounds like a bad differential, this is 100% gear noise.

Any update on them ruining the finish? Are they going to fix it (following the Tesla Service Manual instructions)? I have an appointment in August to fix a deep scratch that was identified before taking possession. Even before reading your experience, I have been stressing over the fear that they will just make it worse and refuse to fix it properly.

I picked it up and have it right back, they really screwed up the stainless, the manager finally got involved and supposedly getting dealt with? The gearbox noise continues and Tesla is deciding on what the buy back will look like. So far this whole situation with this truck and Tesla has been an utter shitshow.

OK. Good that they are taking it seriously. Let us know when you get it back. Mine only has 1000 miles on it and no gear whine (yet?).

Same on my Beast, at any speed. It’s my first EV, so I have no point of reference as to how it should sound.

So, dropped off my CT last week and they verified the noise isn't normal. It has been in the shop for a week now , they says they need to replace the rear drive unit

Can someone post a video or audio clip of the noise so we can confirm we’re all hearing the same thing? And how did they know it was coming from the rear drive motor vs. the front?
