Last week I took delivery in Colorado of my Foundation AWD Cybertruck and loved it! Less than 24 hours later, after I made sure it would fit in my relatively small garage,
Tesla Cybertruck Cyberlandr Install PXL_20240423_215430143
I turned it over to Lance King, the owner of Cyberlandr, who had flown up from Austin and with whom I am sharing this vehicle. I have had a reservation with Cyberlandr for almost as long as I've had one for the Cybertruck (Reseravation night of the reveal, TSLA stockholder). After reviewing with Lance the udated plans for Cyberlandr, he drove it back to Austin to begin building the Alpha install. Our plan is to have this first install - along with others, I trust - by July 1 in order to begin Beta testing. Lance has 5 CTs on order, but I was able to get mine sooner so they could begin the fabrication of what I trust will be a marvelous addition to this wonderful vehicle. In fact, for me, it's the primary motivator for consumating the purchase of the CT. Their plan is to do a full reveal and launch in November 2024, after the Beta Testers have assisted in refining the product. They have amassed a wonderful team of engineers and talent that will make this an amazing contribution to the Cybertruck world.

Thank you for giving up your precious new toy, so that the rest of us can look forward to the Cyberlandr that much sooner

As I understand it the fatal flaw to this concept has still not been addressed: the extended range battery pack CANNOT be accommodated with this add-on, and with the added weight the range will be utterly useless for long camping trips—which is precisely what this is designed for.

A self powered trailer like Pebble would not only not affect the range, but allow the range extender to be installed—not to mention provide much better accommodations.

hopefully they address this fatal flaw before it’s too late…

Great concept under original numbers for range at announcement. New numbers. Not so much.
Can't for the life of me figure out why so many are trying so hard on such a tiny box. Some rethinking on all these ideas is necessary.

A self-powered trailer will cost more, weigh more, take more time charging.

Cyberlandr is a completely different use case to a trailer. Compact, lighter overall, less consumption of energy, able to be used where you can't use a trailer.

What precisely is the use case? Going under 100 miles to the next county for a camping trip? Not sure there’s too big a market for that “use case”…

Generally, when I go camping, I do not drive 85 mph all the way to the campground. I do not like to camp on freeways.

If you don't know the use case, then don't get involved with a product.

But... in the US, there's no surfing more than fifty miles from a Supercharger. It would make a lovely changing shack for surfers, cold weather kayaking, coast diving; you could use it while tailgating or for festivals with vehicle camping; and it'll work in more primitive compgrounds than a trailer - the majority which aren't a hundred miles in from the last charging point.

No trailers either allowed or will work in the Big Sur car camping areas. So basically, anywhere I go.

I'm saddened by all the negativity from members here, about this. There are so many different ways CT can be used. Why not see how this develops.

I plan on adding Ham Radio Gear to my CT (non-FS). But I imagine I'll get scorned for messing with the electrical systems..

sounds like a good fit for use cases where you don’t plan to stay overnight…like I wrote not a huge market as most people don’t need an expensive changing shack…personally, if there’s no fresh water source near the surf site I just take a portable shower like the RinseKit Pro and a big towel. Does the job and the CT’s back seat with the seats folded up provides plenty of room for me change—and I’m 6-2”.

as for proximity to charging stations, you missed the point…the limited range of the CyberTruck with the added “changing shack” will result in having to stop roughly 4x more with this kit vs trailing a self-powered trailer like the Pebble w/Range Extender.

I’m sure there are some unique people who don’t mind having to stop every ~80 minutes to charge, but I’d bet the number who would prefer the flexibility of only 1 stop in ~7hours make up more than 90% of the potential market.

Unless they address the “fatal flaw” this is doomed to fail.

Okay, so the truck doesn't work for you, because you like to camp on rural freeways, and exaggerating numbers. This is unrelated to the Cyberlandr and really, not useful here.

The number of vehicles that can only stop once every seven hours is really in the minimum, and highly unsafe driving practices.

Incorrect. Love my Cyberbeast!

the Kit is the issue…it doesn’t work for the vast majority of people for whom it is intended…

Your conflating “preferring the flexibility of only 1 stop in ~7hours” to actually driving 7hours sheds light on your inability to clearly comprehend the fatal flaw in this kit…

you seem to have no problem paying nearly six figures for a glorified “changing shack”…we get it…unfortunately the manufacturer will realize people like you are not enough to keep the company in business too late…

If it's not intended for you, why are you complaining?

And I'm not conflating anything. You're the one spouting nonsense.

Not complaining….merely stating facts…

and yes you clearly conflated 2 different thoughts…the fact that you continue to miss the distinction is telling…

moreover, disregarding actual facts as nonsense is even more telling of your desperation in trying to make a valid point…

We don’t know how much the range will be affected by a collapsible camper.
