I agree with everything positive but sales are below what Tesla needs. I think the design is just a little too different. But it's so great.

Would be great if they could make a stripped down version at 50K. Because right now it's high end truck land (maxed F150 Raptor territory) and thats a small market segment.

I don't see any Cybertrucks selling for $145K!

New 2025 Ford F-150 Raptor R in Gaithersburg MD

And even the Ford Raptor R can't beat the Cyberbeast in a 1/4 mile, not even close. And who wants to go back to a vehicle that gets 10 MPG City and only 15 MPG Hwy and has much lower towing and payload ratings, and needs regular oil and filter changes, and that spews out toxic gases?

The bottom line is that the Cybertruck is not priced in high end truck land, and is cheaper to own and operate too. Sales will pick up when truck buyers figure out that most of what they have heard about the Cybertruck is just misinformation. The Dual Motor is a screaming value.

The Raptor R is a super limited version. They made 2500 in 2023.

The regular Raptor is under 30k per year. (Aligns with the CT).

The CT's pricing will keep it a low volume vehicle.

Many people want one, but can't afford it. Still, the Dual Motor is cheaper than a lot of Ford and GM 1/2 tons that have less towing/hauling capacities.

The rumor that I've heard is that the overwhelming majority of Cybertrucks sold in 2025 have been the $79,990 AWD version that qualifies for the Federal tax credit. All of the other CT versions -- 2025 Cyberbeasts, 2025 RWDs, 2024 Foundation Series -- have been tough to sell this year.

The AWD at $72,490 (after tax credit) is supposedly the CT that everyone wants. If that's true, them maybe it's not surprising that Cyberbeasts are being used as loaners.

But I will note that this is just a rumor, and there is no easy way to conclusively prove or disprove it. Tesla has the sales data, of course, but will never make it public. The available third-party estimates (like from Cox) address total CT sales, but not sales for specific trims. There is probably some industry analyst that has a good estimate, but it would be paywalled.

I think you're onto something. $72,500 is what got me in the door. Its an expensive vehicle but .07/kw charging at home knocks about $10k off of that price vs a gasser over 5 years for me.

Interesting. When I was trying to decide if I could justify my Cybertruck I looked into new F-150 Raptors from the Ford website and I found the maxed out model was about 1110K so I felt the Cybertruck was acceptable.

However, whether the F-150 you showed is the current price doesnt change the issue....the Cybertruck is priced in the top 10% of trucks and I think it would be good if there was a Cybertruck at closer to the median price. I love it and have never regretted it. Its amazing. But in order for it to compete with the regular F150 it needs to be only about 10K more...not more than 20-40K more.

The Ford F-150 Raptor R has the turbo V-8 (which is what you need to match the Dual Motor Cybertruck). Cyberbeast blows away the Raptor R which starts at $110K, load it with options and you're looking at $130-$140K (and you can't get anything remotely similar to FSD, the trail nimbleness of the Cybertruck, the ground clearance of the Cybertruck, the toughness of the Cybertruck, the bed volume and payload capacity of the Cybertruck, the low operating expense of the Cybertruck, etc. etc. etc.).

Really, there's no comparison in which delivers more value.

Prices for the Model S and Model X went up by $10,000, but the “Luxe Package” is now included … Seems like the "Luxe Package" really could add at least $10,000 of value. I'm surprised that they limited the "Luxe Package" to the Model S and Model X, and didn't add it to the Cyberbeast at least. Maybe it's coming.
The price of the Cyberbeast just went up by $15,000, but the Luxe Package is now included.

If the AWD CT was priced at the anticipated $49,900 MSRP would the TX assembly lines be cranking out 125,000 trucks annually?
Maybe I’m just bad at business, but lowering the price on something so you can sell a lot of them when you’d be losing somewhere around $20K per unit seems…..suboptimal.

”Hey, boss, at that price we’re losing $20K per truck we sell.”

”Yeah yeah yeah Mr. Negativity, we’re gonna make it up with volume.”

That General Motors-level thinking.

"You're going to laugh when I say this, but ... you are looking at the next styling choice for every popular vehicle going forward for decades".

100%. You can not escape the no maintenance exterior AND the stamped frame. these efficiencies in manufacturing will eventually drive costs so low people can't afford the antiquated manufacturing (steel, paint, along with all the other efficiences of 48V and ethernet).

The list of positives is endless. You won't find a more quiet, comfortable, truck on the market at any price. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
And yet Tesla itself says they will not design or manufacture any more cars using these techniques or exterior materials. Love my CT, but it was way over engineered and could not meet its design specs.

You can't tell much about margins by the price the manufacturer sets for any particular vehicle. Basically, manufacturers who put a vehicle into production set the prices at what the market will bear, even if it's below the cost to produce.

Just look at basically all other EV manufacturers, they all sell below the cost to produce. You can't tell margins by price adjustments.
Once again, this is not true. Chevrolet and Ford both produce and sell every EV at positive sales margin, and always have. Their EV divisions lose money because of accounting rules for R&D, depreciation, allocated overhead, etc. But the cost of production per vehicle is well under their sales price per vehicle.

Incorrect. Neither one produce all EVs at gross profit. The equipment that produces them has a finite lifespan.

GM tried to confuse people like you recently by using an undefined term (something like "periodic variable gross profit") but all it did was highlight that the more they sell, the more they lose.
