I’ve been using FSD since 2021, mostly on my old Model 3. Loved it then, and still love it. Some things I’ve observed that weren’t really an issue for me on the latest FSD versions I had before I sold my model 3, but are present in the current Cybertruck version are:

1. At times the truck definitely feels like it’s not going to stop in time to avoid hitting a car in front of it. I’ve got a high risk tolerance from using FSD so much, but this is my main issue with Cybertruck FSD, especially in stop and go freeway traffic. It will make an initial stop, and then when traffic speeds up again but comes to a quick stop, I’ve had to intervene quite a bit in this scenerio. Also when exiting freeway off ramps it does not slow down sufficiently.

2. when making left turns in double left turn lanes, if you used the outside lane, it frequently cuts into the adjacent lane.

3. it loves to ride the center divider very closely, even when it’s a cement curb. (Painted dividers as well)

4. Lane changes. So many times it does not get over in time to make an exit off the highway, or to make a turn to follow the route. This is also present on other models of FSD and I understand that it’s supposed to be addressed in a version coming soon, but it’s one of the main annoyances I have with FSD.

all that said, I still love using FSD, and the visions based monitoring makes it feel even more like self driving than ever before. LOVE IT.

I tend to call FSD as Elon driving. And when Elon is driving the truck, sometimes he’s a bit drunk.

The other night I’m pretty sure he was gonna run the stop sign. Even when I forced the stop via braking, I well over the white line by at least half a trucks leinghth.

another issue was taking an off / on ramp, truck gradually drifted from the fast lane across the next lane and over the white lines as if it was moving to fast to keep its lane. I stopped it once it crossed the solid white.

making a Uturn it appeared he wanted to drive on the side walk, forced a harder turn to stay in lane

I love my FSD, I have had it for a couple of weeks now. It has some quirks, one being self parking my front of my truck tagged the car in front of me not hard not even with a mark what, the F?

I've visited two different destinations this week, with no interventions round-trip. However, FSD did make some sketchy navigation decisions, such as getting in the wrong lane and moving last-second.

In one case, I was awaiting a left turn at a light when the nav clearly showed it wanted to go straight. It look the left and then recalculated, so I got there, I just have no idea why lol

On my drive yesterday, FSD correctly slowed for the annoying preponderance of "speed humps" along my route, even though they are poorly marked and were not rendered on-screen. Perhaps they are in the mapping data? ?

These are all known quirks. FSD for Cybertruck is essentially one of those releases where it is a regression from other more trained/fine tuned version like on the Model Y.

Expect these things to be fixed and improve in upcoming SW releases.

Same issue with #1 & #2. Today was bad as it tried to run a 4-way stop sign that also had a flashing red light in a 70 MPH zone. Drive that same road 4-5 times per week and this has never happened. First time on the route since latest update on Monday. Was able to stop but was 5’ into the intersection. Will try it again tomorrow to see what happens.

#2 - Yes. In fact, even on single left turns it leaves the lane and heads partially into oncoming cross traffic (thankfully stopped at the light). It does a last minute jog to the right to get back into the lane. I no longer drive my 3 since getting the truck so was wondering if this was unique to the CT - maybe a result of not compensating for rear steer?

One more issue that I see is it sometimes tailgates the car in front of you. FSD used to be good about maintaining a 2 second interval. CT FSD doesn't do it always but fairly frequently and it pisses off the other driver (understandably). Often they will slow down to well below the speed limit which is annoying. However, I don't blame them because that is exactly what I do when someone tailgates me.

I wonder if these issues would get addressed more quickly if we all agreed on the same message to record when asked why we disengaged FSD. Thinking a large number of same feedback is more likely to get human attention.

Here's my proposal:
  1. Late braking
  2. Did not stay in lane when turning
  3. Too close to curb
  4. Slow lane change
  5. Tailgating car ahead

Have been using FSD in 2 M3Ps since the beginning and now in my Cybertruck. Previous version to 12.5.5 was much better than this one in my CT. Live in Orange County, CA. Here are the issues:

1.This one is very frustrating and dangerous. Using FSD while traffic is moving along (>60mph) for periods of time with plenty of distance from the vehicle in front. Then traffic ends up slowing rather rapidly when I would have already started to remove my foot from the accelerator pedal. FSD consistently doesn't recognize and doesn't slow down until the last minute literally slamming on the brakes. Tire squeal and ABS type of feeling. Now I am disengaging all the time in these situations. Not fun

2.In left HOV lane FSD attempts to take every LH exit along the way even though the nav says go straight. Have to disengage to ensure that it doesn’t realize too late and cause me to hit the center divider (barrels).

3.Hugs lane to the left in the HOV lane. White knuckling it when driving past overhead signs and the center divider juts out. Like on the 91.

4.Enough has been stated by the new speed acceleration issues, but now slowing down for simple lane changes on the freeway.

5. Horrible job staying centered in lane.

I am also pretty tolerant with FSD to let it do its thing but actually drove home from work the other day. Pissed.

Yes on all points. The last update, 12.5.5.2 did fix a few things, left turn lanes and down slope left turns, but the late braking and to fast thing is a little disconcerting. Isn’t there a way to make it more or less aggressive or slower vs the speed limit? Like a trim or something?

Am I the only one having problems with it clearly running red lights? I've had to slam on my breaks and barely made it about the line at least half a dozen times now. It was going through the red and these are not yellows just turning red, these already red.

It is also terrible with deer and has not recognized them at all.

I don't really have any arguments with the other things posted either.

[EDIT]
Also the speed limit signs of other roads being picked up. Often parallel roads, highway speed vs Express way speed, roads separating but following a parallel path for a time, etc.
States that have max and min speed signs it picks up as the current speed. Jumping from 70mph to 40mph repeatedly every few miles on screen.

.5.5.2 is a little better, almost good.
but the tendency to cut inside corners, in either direction, is such a pain. and when you take over, you're holding to the offset (and the steering is amplified by the quick ratio), dumping you partway into the adjacent lane.

Same issues here. At times FSD is perfect and other times it drives worse than my teenagers. I have been using FSD since 2018 in my Model 3 and in our 2020 Model X. I prefer driving our Model X in FSD versus the Cybertruck.

I agree with the car coming dangerously close to hitting the car in front of me during stop and go traffic. I usually turn off FSD when traffic starts to slow or I remove the "auto speed' and then manually slowing the car down by reducing the maximum speed. That seems to help a little. Other times, I just prefer to drive myself

For me, I was shocked when it ran a stop sign the other day (nobody around early morning). It can be dangerous at freeway interchanges that have stop and go traffic.

I hope speed/driving profiles come soon to CT. I use chill on our other cars because it has a stopping distance I am comfortable with, same for speed and lane changes.

This initial build for the CT is ok. It is good to have FSD for long drives. Definitely needs some major improvements.

Great thread! I am a new to Tesla FSD and the Cybertruck. I agree with everything said here! It is useful to know I am not the only person experiencing these exact issues.

btw, loving the truck!!
