Hope not, we need the spare tire to be hanging there. Plenty of storage elsewhere on the truck.
Thats what I have been saying. It would seem foolish to put that storage there. not only do you need to clear the bed to access it, but its like putting a box in a box. If its easy for me to close the bed and lets say I have a bag of tie downs or some small supplies I picked up at the hardware store, why not just put them in the bed and close it. It's already going to be too hard to lean over the tailgate and when the tailgate is down it will be a lot to lean over to get to. I am still 95% sure after seeing the prototype castings and the most recent CT images that those sail pillars will have storage in them.

I am more and more on the fence about the spare. I am thinking over my almost 20+ years of driving and I think I personally only used a spare maybe 3 times. I do think that the CT would make a great work truck and I think that if it wants to make headway in that market it needs a spare to be reliable. I would like it to have a spare because I plan to take family trips and I would prefer not to get stranded in the Mohave with a bunch of bored kids. Granted they would probably find interesting things on the side of the road.

Not every day. I am guessing that @Crissa lives in an area similar to me. I have salt air every day and pollen from cypress trees every night.

Calling it 'FRUNKGATING'.
Might be a 'THING' :)
been a thing - google it along with “Lightning”

based on this beta photo, the BAW plus apparent (tight) tolerances of the where the front panel meets the quarter panel makes me think that any drunk opening would involve the lid first pooching outward (toward the front of the vehicle) a bit then rising upward - similar to certain high end cabinetry hinges

Separately, I did a bit of “computer, enhance” to better understand that lower bumper

It's interesting that they also have the small plastic flap in front of the tire for aero. I have it on my Model Y too!

I think the thing that is going to be revolutionary about the CT if it is a reasonable price, is that a lot of people who choose not to drive trucks because they are gas guzzlers and they handle like an elephant on pot, will have a new great option. The CT with its spacious cabin, dent proof body, amazing handling and low gas prices is going to convert a lot of people. Including Californians. Why not get the CT and have low operating cost, great performance and a nice vault in the back. I can see my wife driving one with the kids (with side bars of course). I would feel safer knowing she was driving it. Anyway, i think the truck ownership in CA is only going to increase when the CT comes out.

I think the CT has started an entirely new vehicle type. We call it a truck but really its not. It literally broke the mold. I am working on coming up with the type. I think Urban Assault Vehicle is taken. Its something between a truck and an armored vehicle. Like an Light Armored BAV. I will let you come to your own interpretation.

If these castings are under the skin, there will be no sail panel storage. No room. If Tesla did try to shoehorn a compartment in there, it'd be a ridiculously small one akin to the little owner's manual sized ones some car companies have put in their frunk areas. ?

Thanks much Ogress. I don't think people understand the whole camera phone thing unless it's duck face selfies.

I mean, they definitely adjusted, Franz said so. WHERE did they though? Seems more so from the front instead of the back. Which is the better choice. They keep the larger bed, the frunk gets smaller. I personally NEVER use my frunk in my 3/Y.... don't think Cybertruck will be all too different.
During the season I keep my kite pump, extra bar, and towels in there. On trips I keep all my emergency stuff (first aid kit, backup battery, squeegee, extra windshield fluid, pump, charging adapters, lift pucks, flashlight, hat, gloves) up there. I find it very useful. I would love to have the hood open and close automatically but don’t want to mess with it.

I bet there will be at least 8" between the aluminum casting and the main long blue seem there. thats enough to put basic roadside emergency stuff, tie downs, small tool cases.

yes, and the contouring of it and the rest of the bumper seems to suggest the bumper is not metal?

in some respects including regulations, this makes sense

but it does feel possible it will be a bit of a materials/aesthetic mismatch?

Are you not going to wash it every now & then?

Actually, when my vehicles are clean I will occasionally wipe off the morning dew. It only takes a few minutes in the morning.
Isn't that what the wiper is for?

I gotta get to the car wash from the beach or mountains before I can give 'im a bath.
